need some help please....and advice

I just bought a Infra Red USB cable that conencts to my pc, and reads to my mobile phone.
What software out there lets me unlock fones through the IR port?....
If anyone else knows how to use this device, pelase say, because everytime i bring my phone in connection with the IR cable device, a "new hardware" dialog box comes up and asks to locate the driver for "Mobile Premium Phone". I dont know what that means.
I have an 8310, and am running win 98.
Also, what is the differance between dct3 and dct4?

in your computer you have drivers for every hardware connected to it (your video card, sound card, printer, etc.).
when you make the phone connect to the IR it's like when you connect a new printer or camera or anything else, and you need to install a driver so the computer will be able to communicate with it.

did you get a cd with your phone? if so, the driver may be on that cd.

now, the difference between dct3/4 is that dct3 is the name for older models, from 5110 to 3410. dct4 is a name for the new generation of mobiles, 3510 and newer. all the colour nokia phones, and the gprs phones are dct4. (including 8310).
the software is of course different, a dct3 unlocker will not work on a dct4 phone.

if you want to unlock your 8310 i suggest that you get a code for it. unlocking with codes is easier, faster and free :)

if you still want to unlock it with cable (the harder way) you will have to put the phone into test mode and then unlock it with a program. i don't know of any program that unlocks dct4 phones with IR, but i'm sure that there is a program that can. (there is a software for anything :D )

I cant unlock with codes becasue i have had 5times incorrect.
So i need a software that would unlock it with IR.

i know that if you put your phone into test mode, you can reset the 5 times counter (with the JIC unlocker, i think).

i'm not sure if it can be done with a usb ir cable, but you can try.

try searching the forum, you'll find everything you need :)
