I've been reading about the Nokia 5165 and found some thing on GHOST Numbers....

*#639#
Then you type in your first 6 digits and change the last 4.
and rest your phone and call if it don't work try different
numbers.

Does this accutally work? I've tried it and I havn't
had any luck yet. Thanks.

Could you please describe in a little more detail?

I cannot understand a single sentence of what you have written.
I know you are using English words, but they are joined up to make no sense whatsoever.

Its called GHOST Numbering or some thing... I want to know if this really works or if there is some trick to doing it.

1) Push *#639#
2) Push in your first 6 digits and last will be random (xxx) xxx - rand
3) Enter 37 as your code for AT&T
4) Phone will reboot and try to call some one if it don't work try another number.

Does this methoud really work? I've been reading and its like cloning I think but, I think you need the Home system ID and all that.

for anyone who wants to try it, remember:

these codes are for TDMA phones only.

as much as i know, there are ghost numbers in GSM too, but you have to find one that works, and program your sim to use it.

They don't have SIMs?

Well now I've read everything! What do they use then? I am fairly clueless on TDMA phones to be completely honest ;)

Cheers

5165 doesn't have sim because it is TDMA. you can program it with the *3001#12345# code.

@bobl
only GSM phones and some CDMA phones have sim.
in TDMA phones, and most CDMA's the number, network and the other settings are programmed on the phone itself, and can be changed with a code that you can access the NAM programming menu with. that's why i think GSM is better, because if you want to change networks you just change the sim.

p.s.
there are iDEN phones that have sim too, but i don't know anything about iDEN so i don't want to give incorrect information.
