After receiving bad info from my provider in Canada (Rogers AT&T), I bought a 6160m from the USA. I was told by them that there would be no problem to add this phone to their network.
Of course this was not the case! Although they were able to successfully change the NAM and all to register it on the network, Rogers' network system rejected the ESN as invalid. I even called AT&T USA and they confirmed that this phone was not locked and that it is clear to be registered anywhere else (not reported stolen, lost, etc.).
Short of trying to change the ESN, what else could I be missing??? Rogers in Canada does sell the 6160 (not m) so it should work. What does the "m" in 6160m stand for? Could this be an option that is not supported here?
And if I were to change the ESN, could I use the one from my dead 5125? Since it is already registered, it wouldn't be a problem to register. I know that I would need to look into changing the faid but I am still coming up empty on how to calculate it. Would the faid from the 5125 work? If I absolutely need a 6160 ESN, how to chose/find one that will work on Rogers?
Thanks all.
