I've been trying to unlock my uncle's nokia 8390 for a week now. He just arrived from the US here in the Philippines. The cellphone has a AT&T wireless sim card. He asked help to unlock his phone. I've tried entering restriction codes. Only one worked for the #pw+xxxxxxxxxx+1# but upon entering other codes, the i get a "not allowed" display and the others are "sim was not restricted".
I have read from an article in some website that the 1st code unlocks the provider lock, the 2nd is the network lock, the 3rd is the country lock, and the fourth is the sim lock. The 2nd, 3rd, and the 4th code returned me a "not allowed" display. This means that I have unlocked the first one but the others remained locked. When I placed a new sim card on the phone, there was no signal. Maybe its because I haven't unlocked the others.
I've tried using DCT4 Tweak, DCT4 Unlocker by Cyber and DCT4 unlocker by JIC. All of them does not work. DCT4 Unlocker by Cyber indicates that SP unlock was successful yet nothing happened. The DCT4 Tweak tells that the phone is not responding. While the DCT4 unlocker by JIC tells me that the phone is not connected. I've used my COM1 Mbus and Fbus cable for these softwares.
Is DCT4 unlocking just a myth? Anyone please help me. Thnx

you may be able to unlock the phone, but still the 8390 is 1900 mhz and in PI they use 900, 1800. So even if the phone is unlocked it will not work there.

Yeah thats right, its the wrong frequency and will never work. The best thing you can do is swap it abroad someeplace with the correct frequency.

hey thanks guys, now I know. This forum really works. I guess I have to tell my uncle that no matter what he does to his cellphone, it will never work here. thanks again. More power to this forum!
