I bought a set of data cables, and they worked fine. When i plug these in now im pretty sure its the ringing speaker that makes a crackle sound when you plug in the data cable.
It does this with my flasher cable as well, as soon as you plug it in. The sound is just for a moment, it doesnt keep going or anything.
I have tried this on 2 x 3310's and a 3315. Why is it doing this?
Has this happened to anyone else before?

that's normal, this "crackle" sound is a notification sound.
the phone has to make this sound when you plug in a cable, if it doesn't - the cable is probably not connect in the correct way.

Can you explain to me how it does it?
Last time i plugged in my 3310 mbus cable, in about 3 second intervals, it made the same crackling sound, the phone would not turn on or allow any data transfer. May this have been a loose connection or something?

it sounds like a loose connection, because you can't transfer data (like when the cable is not connected) but you also can't turn on the phone (like when the cable is connected - it happens some times).
try cleaning the cable contacts, and turn on the phone before you plug the cable to the computer.
