I have an 8310 and it's giving me large headaches. I got it in Mar 2002 and that went for repair in Feb 2003, Nokia returned a brand new handset and gave me 3 month warranty, that has now elapsed and the phone has screwed up. For 2 weeks the keypad has been extremely temperimental, usually refusing to recognises Up, Answer, 4 and 6 (althought it has disabled other keys on occasion). Yesterday and today the phoned refused to switch on, but after taking it apart today it's at least on!!!. Is there any quick fix for this? If I need a new keypad+screen where is the best place?

Thanks

It may just have a lot of dust or dirt on the keypad area and the PCB board. In which case an "ear picker cotton bud stick" (sorry i never knew what to call them) would do the job. just use it in a twisting action in the areas that seem grimey. To dip the buds in metholated spirit may help but not nessasary, Just Dont use water!

It may be that your phone has water damage due to it being in a coat pocket in the rain or whenever. In which case searching this forum for water damage would arise the solution.

If you've got a bit of cash to spend then try a new screen. You can get them for anything up to a tenner on ebay.co.uk
Check out a seller called diamondchoice. A good friend of mine who will do you a great deal ;)

forgot to mention you will need a T6 Torx screwdriver to open your phone to clean it out.
Contact diamondchoice to get one quick and cheap.

I tried the meths & cotton bud trick and it had no effect. Keypad work fully yesterday but now half the keys have failed. I will end up buying a new keypad+screen. My SW version is 5.80, but it does seem to be resetting quite frequently.

My rush is off as I now have an SE T610. Good phone, bit heavy and would be better with a few minor software changes
