8310 dead after cable conect..can you help??

Hi everyone, just registered here after spending some considerable time reading through thread after thread. So much great information .

I have a NOKIA 8310 which I've had for a short time, it worked fine with no problems. I bought a data cable to make backups of my phone book and upload ringtones and logos etc. I do this all the time with my 3330 using Logomanager.
So, I turned off the 8310, connected the cable, turned on the phone and the screen was blank, the lights showing though.
The lights go out after 5 seconds.
I contacted the company I bought the cable off and they were no help, they just made sure they didn't say anything that would incriminate their product.

My knowledge on 8310's is pretty good now after this forum and some say the software in the early 8310's was unstable. Do you think this could be the prob, triggered by the attaching of the cable?

Anyway, the phone is dead and I'm looking for someone/company I can get it re-flashed. Is there anyone on here that can fix
DCT-4 phones and if so, what would one charge for this?
I realise the gear to do this is expensive at the moment. Can anyone help me?

Use cracked Phoenix (too big to mail you, so dont ask - if you have ftp space the PUBLIC can use to share files i will upload...) to accertain the precise problem!

Alternatively use orignal phoenix (latest version of course!) and PKD-1/DK2 dongle or use b-phreaks dct4 logger with appropriate dongle!

Another Question? What is the soft that Nokia official use to unlock DCT4 phones? A friend told me that is Phoenix with a special dongle (not the PDK-1)
Is this true?

Yeap - they use phoenix! Don't know if they use a special dongle tho :/ I know for IMEI changes they create an .ask file and send it along with many credentials and reasons to NMP security HQ in finland! I thought they done something similar for unlocking but who knows!

I downloaded it from a veryyyyyyy slow ftp - the url was posted on GSMForum (zfrank) but some lame mod decided cos he is selling PKD-1 he would delete the thread (not the first time its happened there - faid threads went missing for weeks! and same went for a few other threads/softs also!!!!)

If you post an ftp addy I'll upload it up PLEASE leave it there for others to take also - saves me uploading it for everyone or giving it to only one person!

I've not personally tested it - I ordered an 8310 "end" for my mbus cable yesterday so I'll test as soon as I get it...

Na... Most dont allow files over a certain size - few even allow files with a collective size of 20.8!

I had the exact same problem this morning!

Bought from P. Nunn (http://www.peccomputers.co.uk/)
Now my 8310 is fucked by just connecting the cable!

Tho I have a feeling its the simcard connector thats fucked - The phone stays on unlimited without simcard but when its in it keeps "resetting" the way it would if you had a faulty sim or bad sim connection (screen lights go out, goes blank, relogs onto network (this can be heard by sitting it next to a speaker and using a GSM1800 sim!))

Sorry to have to say this DavieB, but I'm glad somebody else has had this problem too and it's not just me. ;) There must be something causing this problem, must be triggered by the data cable somehow. Perhaps somebody here could come up with a few ideas?

I took my 8310 to a data solutions companywww.comm-tech.co.uk today to get it fixed while I waited but the technician said that there was a serious error and their equipment couldn't detect exactly what it was but said something about a ****2 error. So it has to go back to Nokia HQ. I found out today they will fix it under warranty, thank god!!
They didn't know if it was the data cable at fault or not. Have to see what the report says that comes back from Nokia.
I'll post back what they find. Should take a week so they said.

If your phone is still under Nokia warranty send it off to them to fix.

Yeh - I was thinking that myself!
I'll take it to Atlas Comms tomorrow if I can!

I decided that using the cable on it again wouldn't hurt so I connected it again and got cracked phoenix working - BB Self tests ALL passed..
They'll have done the same and realised its over their heads!

Now - Wonder what can be done :/

Think the datacable has pumped voltage from serial into the phones sim connectors and blown a fuse or worse?

I'm not too good at any electronics never mind SMT stuff!

Fuck - This is annoying now...
I should be able to get it fixed np - but I still wanna do it now.. :(

Is there somewhere I can download a cracked phoenix?
I do have one but when I start it it just says "cannot load models file". Probably something stupid I haven't done for it to work properly.

I think I'll wait till there is a bit more info on data cables and 8310's before I hook it up again once fixed.

If you all had the commonsense to check past threads before emailling me (quite a few of you did) you'd know I'm not gonna email it to anyone (its 20 fuckin mb!!!) and that I'll upload to pubspace MYSELF if someone supplies details on the FORUM (yeh, thats the oposite of email)
