caller id help

is there any way of finding out whos calling you if they with hold there number?? some one said if you type something in as the phone rings, it shows up there number? any help would be great.

This has been discussed before, unfortunately I can't remember the thread but the general answer was

If they withold it, it's witheld. No way of getting it, pretty much end of story.

your phone doesn't show you a number for the caller because it doesn't "know" the number.

when someone calls you with a hidden number, the network doesn't send the number to your phone, so there is no way to know that number.


a few days ago someone called me with a hidden number many times, so i called my provider (orange) and asked them for the number. they told they don't even know the number, it's stored somewhere that only their security workers are allowed to access, and they will reveal it only with a written order from court.
