Hi all just made a BIG tutorial on how to make VB programs able to interface with nokia DCT3 phones.

Take a look (http://xored.dk/nokia/pcorner/gettingstarted.html)

As i put alot of effort into this, i'd love some feedback

Cheers

Wow :cool:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Excellent of you to share with us your findings

A while back i made a vb6 program to read several various pieces of information - basic but it seemed to work well :)

This however is a "new look" source code and im going to start playing again :D

Thanks for your time and effort you went into to doing this

Mike

@Romeo

You speak English well therefore you know VB :P (No learning involved!)

VB is so simple to use, but unfortunately it's a scripting language, which is horrible to distribute. Oh well :(

@bobl

what do you mean "vb is a scripting language"?
there is VBScript that is a scripting language, but Visual Basic is just like Visual C++.

so what is the relation between English and VB learning???:D :D

@Yotamz

I was not refering to VB Script (I ain't THAT stupid :P)

I was referring to the fact that VB is never compiled, it is simply scripted and then processed by *.dll s.

Visual C++ for example is actually compiled into a proper exe w/ out need for support *.dll s.

To be honest the only decent language for Windows is ASM. But you do need to be very sad to understand/program in it...

Don't get me wrong, I love VB because of it's simplicity, but I just think it is impossible to distribute, you're relying on the fact that the end user will have the *.dll s required, I just don't think that's neat :)

@Romeo

so what is the relation between English and VB learning???

I was saying that VB is very simple, it is almost in pure English all the way :D, if you speak English you'll find VB very easy, since all the commands are just simple English (Not POP/PUSH/XOR/CINT etc :P)

Cheers

Bob

Cheers to BOB :)

Thats exactly why i choosed VB for my tutorial - it's so simple

Regarding the distribution he's (sadly enough) also right.
Did you know that "hello world" uses 6 different files :rolleyes:

Btw. I not "very sad" i'm just a HW guy.
but how many would, actualy use my tutorial if it where in ASM ?

is that VB doesn't create REAL .EXE file. But I gues you have figured that out by now. :P

Hi all heres some source code for you all to play with.

I added some extra routines compared to the tutorial exaple:

1) Init phone routine - click this button as the first thing :)
2) Read misc info from phone

Also I added a routine witch keeps track on Seg nr. and checksum
so command should only be lauched with their commandstring:

Eg. the command:
1F 00 10 40 00 04 00 01 64 02 11 3D
Where "11 3D" is seq nr. and chksum.

Should now be entered as this: :o
1F 00 10 40 00 04 00 01 64 02

This routine saves time - and makes shure that the phones doesn't get confused.

You can cut and paste all you want. remove the routines as you like - it shouldn't be mutch work - I gues

Cheers

Rename file from .rar.zip to .rar

It looks like my host is going to be down for some time :mad:

But here's the tutorial
Sry about the lame dir structure, but I encrypted the source file - without making a backup - shit happens :rolleyes:

as before rename the .rar.zip to .rar
