i finally decided to go flash my ROM6 3390. :p

using 3310 v5.47, I GOT MY PHONE TO BOOT UP AND WORK PERFECTLY (less the signal)!!! :D

thanks to ryan80 for the idea about the DSP ROM version being the problem. ;)

damn ROM5 3390, making me think a 3390 to 3315 wasn't possible!

i would appreciate help at editing the flash to try to get a signal on my phone though. what will need editing to get GSM900/1800 firmware to work on a GSM1900 phone? The MCU, PPM, EEPROM or all of them?

i have tried replacing the PPM-PLMN in the 3310 v5.47 with that from my 3390 v7.14. i updated the checksums, flashed it to my phone, updated FAID, but still no signal. i don't know what else needs to be changed.

help is appreciated.

try keeping your eeprom data. then calc faid.

i actually tried that. didn't quite work. after flashing MCU+PPM v5.47, my IMEI gets messed up when i try to keep my eeprom, and all 4 locks are closed. if i try to change my IMEI back to the original with Rolis, it is unable to do so.

i have to flash a 3310 virgin eeprom for me to be able to correct my IMEI and get my phone working again.

i'll try again later, but this time i'll try EepromTools or Knok to fix my IMEI.

does anyone actually know where the GSM frequency data is stored? MCU, PPM, or EEPROM? :(

help is appreciated! :D

its in eeprom. I just got 3310 software working and used the knok 3315 mod and that works also. of course no signal because it thinks its in europe.... wonder what other phones are rom6. Overall I see no major pluses of this over 3390 gold standard except maybe more animation that I havnt messed with yet.

@gerbil

so the 331X flash file works with your phone. didn't you say that 3390 v7.03 didn't work?

there goes my theory about the hardware on the 3390 and 3390 gold being different.

are you willing to try v7.14 on your phone? i'll send it to you if you are. maybe that will work for you. i don't understand why your flash file doesn't work on my phone though. :(

as for the 3315, its got some pretty cool features i thought. the only thing i didn't like about it was the menu structure. sort of disorganized in my opinion. i guess i just got used to my 3390. :p

do you know of any differences in the firmware of the 3390 and 3390 gold, other than AIM of course?

i'm thinking of spreading around two 3390 firmware versions that i have a hold of. i figure if the flash files for the 3390 are more readily available for people, we'll see a lot more support for the 3390 with regards to flash editing, etc. :D

/me thinks: 'i wonder if anyone is actually reads this thread other than gerbil' :D

i'm attempting to use a 3310 MCU+PPM with a 3390 eeprom on my 3390. the problem i am running into deals with my IMEI. according to Rolis 1.8, my original IMEI is 65656565656565 and my IMEI is 00000000000000. i am unable to correct it with rolis, knok, or eeprom tools.

so would anyone be able to tell me how i could hex the eeprom to manually change the IMEI. what hex address is the IMEI located at in the 331X eeprom?

i hoping that if i could just correct my IMEI, my 3390 would start up as a 331X and have a signal. ;)

help is appreciated. :)

I do, definately!

Are U familiar with our 'home' tool, nFree12?

@NokDoc

from the readme for nFree:
"should also work with all other Nokias except for 3390/8890."

didn't keep me from using it though. :D

anyway, using nFree, my IMEI appears fine and is correct. the problem is after i've flashed the flash file to my phone, i get the 00000000000000 and 65656565656565 business. :(

how would i go about asking for some 3390 support into nFree?

help is good, but helping is better. ;)

Manually, from http://NokiaFree.org:

3F.C000 : Base of EEPROM
3F.C032 : Imei (Plain), 7 byte
3F.C136 : Securitycode, 2 byte
3F.C144 : CRC-Value, 2 byte (hexreversed, Field add, 8bit Checksum in fact)
Crc-length 3FC026-3FC143 Crc-sum at 3FC144-3FC145
3F.C162 : Imei (Security, XOR 0x65), 7 byte
3F.C27A : CRC-Value, 2 byte (hexreversed, Field add, 8bit Checksum in fact, Bitmask subtraktion of 0x1FE, which is 0xFF+0xFF in fact. Some other Phones are using 0x200.)
Crc-length 3FC0146-3FC279 Crc-Sum at 3FC27A-3FC27B
3F.C382 - 6AD: Supposed Radio Settings.

Ur 3F.Cxxx is either 1D.0xxx or 1E.0xxx

Still a Nokia, only it has an accent.

its been a while since i've tried to get my 3390 to a 3315. i got lazy.

i think i've discovered the reason that my IMEI is always messed up. there is no TUNE checksum in the 3390 eeprom. i have corrected this with nFree.

according to nFree, the full flash i created with a 3310 v5.57 MCU+PPM and my corrected TUNE checksum 3390 eeprom is fine. i tested the flash file with Rolis 4.78 and all checksums were reported as correct as well. however after flashing it to my phone, i still receive CONTACT SERVICE and my IMEI is still messed up.

after running tests on my phone with Eeprom Tools, the reasons for the CONTACT SERVICE are:

- MCU Eeprom Interface Test Failed !
- Eeprom Tune Checksum Test Failed !

i'm certain that the eeprom tune checksum has been corrected. i'm not sure however how to correct the first item. i'm guessing that the MCU will need some hexing for it to accept a 3390 eeprom.

instructions or help on this matter is appreciated. :D
