I have bought a cheap flasher and have flashed my wifes 8310 with out problems.

When I try to do my 7210 it says "TX pin remains unchanged"

Can anyone shed some light on this and can I fix it by changing the way the pins are soledered

I had the same problem with the same setup you have.
Just to make sure, does the phone turn on after the program prompts you to do it?

My problem was that the battery wasn't supplying power to the phone via the cable.

I had to connect the phone to the charger for it to work.

Good luck...

The cable I have connects directly to the the battery using USB power. as well as the pin with the spongy bit removed (obviously)

So I can't use the phone's battery and when the charger is in it usually goes straight to local mode.

I know that it means that I have a bad connection but how do I solve it

I had the exact same prob with cheap flasher and 7210, first of all i only flash with w95, that seems to help a lot, to get round the TX problem i first flash MCU then restart the computer and then flash PPM.
Dont know if this'll help you but its the only way i can get it to work.

After you select the flash files,
Click “FLASH” button, then press “on” button of the 7210.
The phone should display local mode.
The program by now should ask you to turn off the phone.

remove the cable and reconnect again.( If found that disconnecting the lpt end is easier).
Turn the phone back on, and voila....
This procedure only worked for me with the charger plugged in and me holding the flashing cable firmly to tthe phone during the whole operation.

I hope this helps...
