3650 DEAD :((( Only Nokia Logo visible..PLS HELP

My 3650 all of a sudden froze and wudnt reboot ie. the restart button stopped working. So I removed the battery and tried to reboot. But only the NOKIA logo comes and then nothing...it just hangs :( I tried the pencil button start-up but nothing seems to work. Finally I took it to nokia service centre and they say they are not able to even flash - they have tried 6-7 timz and still the same error. :confused: PLS HELP.....much grateful...thanks :confused: :(

Sounds like you have to get your phone flashed, or sent to a Nokia Cervice Centre.

I have already sent it to nokia service centre. They are blaming it on water logging whereas Im sure its nothing of the sort. Someone else also is having the same problem in the forum. I think its gotta do with the software.....any comments/help from the flash guru's?....thanks alot :(

3650 with stuck NOKIA logo is very hard to cure ... flashing with griffin 1989 and did format user area still not help.
Nokia service center cannot help also ....

so ..... we better wait for good solution from our friends here ...

It happend to me one time to. After 7 weeks i was tired of waiting nokia to fix my mobile so i demanded a new one. And i got it :)

try this its working with case start up failure contact the retailer, maybe work too to your case, try to flash with grifin some PPM only (ex.*.?32)not full flash uncheck full facctory set after flash, flash it, then flash one again with other PPM ex.*.35, then after flashing use *#7370# to set default setting try..

Ah! THAT happened to me too! You mean you turn it on and "NOKIA" appers, then whites out or freezes?

Give it to a registered nokia repair center or a "hub" for rebooting and reinstallation.

DO NOT let an unauthorized repair center reboot the program because it is very likely that they are doing wild guesses and don't have the software(This depends on the strictness of your country against illegal thingies).

They may do 2 things: R or R. Repair or Replace.

They realy know how to make phones , but as they are not perfect sometimes we got a bad one , a freind of mine hada one of the old nokia phone (the firt's with a grafical display , but still text) that phone sufferd alot in its hands , it was almost teared apart and still working :grin: :D :-D .
me has an example had a 3210 , got a litle bum to the flour and never was the same again , lot's of problems to get network ...
my next ony a 3310 , also got an litle bum to the fluor and got the LCD broken in lot's of pieces...

i had a problem like that...try this:let your phone boot.if the problem is that you have filled the memory(not the mmc)this should simply work.if you wait,maybe an hour...But the phone will be incredibly slow,until you free 2-300kb and reboot.

Hey! We share the same experience with my 3310! IT fell from the 2nd floor, hit the ground, broke it's LCD but tthe OS was still working!

Here are some pointers to just before it happened:
1) My battery was really now so I just put it on charger.
2) I was trying to use bluetooth headset but it surprisingly wasnt working
3) I got a memory low error
4) I was trying to read an SMS
5) After all the above, the fone froze
6) I removed the battery and restarted...the next thing i know....nokia logo and nothing after that :( :confused:

oh man, seems like its an epidemic. So many 3650's going down the same way. All of us have 1 thing in common - we really did nothing wrong!!! The fone suddenly died on us :(

Here is wot I suspect cud be the main culprits. Low memory and bluetooth but i cant be sure :confused:

Is 2.5 firmware plaqed with this problem? Did Nokia really screw up on this 1? Maybe a bug?? The forums of full of this all over the net...and i read sumwher that its gotta do with the IC....the main IC or sumthing....which has gone bad :confused: :confused:

Are ther many IC's in the 3650? Wot if they had to replace the IC...is that a big deal??

The IC you speak is the Flash IC , basicaly he is the phone's harddrive, so this IC has gone defective , and nolw the phone can't read from it , it's almost has if it has Bad sectors , as an hard drive , so it canot boot, unfortunately those ic's are hard to replace , so you have to contact your ressailer and ask for a good phone .

It should not haa any to do with IR remote , as i got it working on my 3650.

EXACTLY the same problem on my Nokia 7650
This happened when I was deleteing big archive of sms messages. The phone hang up and I restart it by removing battaries. When I'm trying to boot it again it displays Nokia logo, flashs lights on, and halts.
Periodically the phone tries to boot in the background, and without success. It gives several errors: "no memory", "kern-exec 3, etel server closed", "insufficient disk space, please remove some data", "phone startup failed, please contact the retailer"
I was in the service center (not official), where they have changed firmware but it did not help. They told that this maybe caused by physical damage (but I'm sure that this is a software problem). Unfortunately in my country is not official service center. What should I do? I have not brought the phone from official retailer. Can I change the phone to new one? Where should I requre support?

Hmmm. The last thing I remebered before my phone whited out was trying to enter the security code but failing(dunno why, my inputted code NNNNN where N is a number seemed to be in error) then, it froze, I took out the battery, THEN, BOOM. It's DEAD.

My theory is that when the phone's Symbian OS encounters an error which overwrites a critical sector(such as security), the OS fails to start due to a protective agent to prevent further spreading of the error.

I'm trying to boot the phone, waiting an hour, two, it boots, gives an error that memory is full, cintunues booting again, the same error.... boots... again again again....
May be this caused by the physical damage of flash memory?

In the service center they tried to reflash it, but without success, it seems that reflashing process gives some errors at the end.

I had the same logo problem. I tried everything but couldn't get it to boot. The level 3? service center here in Los Angeles said the phone was too new for them to be able to fix the problem. So I shipped it off to Florida and crossed my fingers. I had unlocked my AT&T phone and was now using it with T-Mobile, had many cracked programs on it, and I wasn't the original purchaser, I got it from some guy on craigslist. I put it in a box and hoped for the best. I got the phone back 3 or 4 weeks later and it works fine. They updated my OS to 3.16? I think from 2.54, which seems to be the problem for a lot of phones. I've read *lots* of these threads and have never gotten a difinitive answer on what causes this logo problem. My guess is it's 2.54, since it seems to be the most common OS when it happens. I had installed som programs (can't remember wich ones) I was writing a sms when suddenly the screen turned white. I tried to restart the phone but only the nokia logo showed up, and after couple of seconds it shutted down. I tried many times, but it didn't work so I returned to the shop. They said they would fix it, but they used to long time so I demanded a new one. And I got it :D I live in Norway, and in Norway we have a law that says you can demand a new mobile or the shop can fix it. I don't know how it is where you live.

Yeah, at last! :) they have fixed the problem. They have reflashed the phone, as they have told me the standard reflashing was failing, so they tried to reflesh partially, part by part.
O my god, thanks... It's not an easy thing simply to throw away the stuff wich costs $500.

it also happen to me like, contact retailer but when i restart my phone and it run again... maybe it was my luck ;) but.. in the future it gonna come back again... how it is occured? i jst get this error when my phone got low batt. and i pluged it on a chareger that the cellphone are on and while charging i off my phone.... after an hour or 2 the battery is full... and when i turn it on.. the contact retailer pop up and its turn off... but when i start again.. it works... ;)

This happened to my 3650 and I brought it to the nokia care and they said it was a level 3 damage which meant that it was a hardware problem and the technician said that they had to replace one of the boards. After 5 weeks, the phone still wasn't fixed because they said that Nokia still hadn't shipped the boards yet to Manila. To think that there was a batch of 3650's delivered to Manila which had the same problem. I demanded a new phone and they said they wouldn't give me one because the phone was still repairable--they just didn't have the parts with them. Poor customer service! I called my network service provider where I got my phone from and got really irate over the phone. A week later, I called Nokia again and they said it's fixed. It's a good thing that it's under warranty because the board replaced is expensive.

tis strange.....part by part flash seemed to work in dato's case....but same problem n they blamed it on hardware in randz case? I get da feeling nokia has no idea wots goin on!!!

I spoke to da Nokia Service Centre Manager and even he kept bringing up water logging as possible cause...whereas Im 1000% positive not a drop has even come close to my fone.

Well, this is EXACTLY NOT hardware problem (and water too). In another service center they told me too that this is a hardware problem, but I did not listen to them.
The version of the soft on my 7650 was 3.16, now it is upgraded to 4.46
Just explain the problem correctly in the service center, tell them that the phones memory (C disk) needs to be reflashed.

My 3650 has the same problem, 2. It just happened when i took it out of my pocket w/o doing anything to it. The phone just shut off by itself, and cannot be powered on again, except the NOKIA logo shows up and fades away. I called the Nokia Repair Center in FL, and they said this problem is very unusual (which is not true, as i've seen so many ppl here have the same problem, 2). Then i was told to send my phone to 'em, and have 'em take a look at it. They said it will take approx. 7 to 10 days to get my phone back. i dunno that's true or not. I am so desparated w/o a cell now.

My 3650 went bye bye after 12 days.
I was using SpaceDoubler and was decompressing programs, when an error message came up. I was forced to restart my phone by removing the battery.
whenever I turned it on after this, the same message came up (App.Server casued an error in KERNsomething). I knew that because there was an error with the kernel that the main operating system was damaged. I went back to where I bought it (carphone warehouse)on a monday and they told me to go to the nokia service point to get it flashed. However, nokia were waiting for the part to come in to flash 3650s. I rang every day for the next 3 days and on Thursday, they told me to bring it back to carphone warhouse and demand a replacement phone, as they didn't realise it was so new. Apparently, it is my basic consumer rights to get a refund or replacement phone within 30 days. The guy in Carphone warehouse said that because my phone was sim free, the warranty was only 7 days. The best they could do was to send it away and get it flashed which would take 2 or 3 weeks.
I rang their head office. The girl on the phone said that my warranty was 2 weeks, but the error I reported had only showed up on her computer the previous day (wednesday). My warranty was out by a day! The prick in the carphone warehouse had never reported my problem untill 2 days later when my warranty was out!.
So I rang her supervisor the next day and she was sweet as pie to me on the phone. She said she would send me a replacement phone straight away. I got it last Tuesday (4 days later, which is good, considering the weekend) and have had no problems so far. I only found out the code to reformat on Monday and thought it wasn't worth my while considering I was getting a brand new phone.

hi...After 2 weeks of running after da service centre....they still havent been able to do anything :( :( :( Today I have given them dato's and alinus advice.....to flash the phone memory....ie. c disk.

Tomorrow I will be talking to senior engineer at nokia. Can u guys pls tell me some more things that I need to tell them?

As I understand....they need to flash the phone memory(c disk) using a griffin....with software version 3.14 and above.....am I right? :confused: :confused: Do I need to know anything else?

same problem happened to my phone. i guess 3650 is prone to crashes! :confused: the repair shop told me that they have to replace the flash part of the phone eventhought they have already upgraded the firmware to 3.50. the shop told me the phone is still dead! it sucks because they are the only shop in manila that is certified by nokia to repair phones! well its a lesson for me not to install so many applications to my phone!

YesKia... well i was playing java game and i think a kernell error appeared and i believe it was cause by the game. the next thing i know, i cannot use charaters when i was composing an sms. so i knew there was a problem. i exhausted all the posibilities to just type a character but only numbers were displayed even when using notes... i have a Switch application install in my mmc and i killed the phone application. after killing the phone app, my phone shuts down. and when i was turning on my phone... the logo appears then fades away... (this was the common problem in the thread).

i'm hoping to get my phone this saturday... i'll keep you guys posted, about the cause and the solution of the problem of my phone!

sad mann....really sad. Its appalling for nokia to make such an unstable fone. It is so unlike nokia.

Im so pissed off with this...im going to put it in the news papers if they dont repair or replace my fone.

I have loved and admired nokia quality...uptil now....but this time they have really messed-up bigtime.

Im also thinking of making a case out of the many posts here and taking it up to custodians of nokia.

So guys pls post aggresively and regularly.....if nokia wants to keep up its name and brand....im sure they will do something abt it!

At last, I got my 3650 after 2 weeks in the repair shop! They said that my flash were corrupted and they need to replace it! They upgraded the firmware to 3.50. I hope the firmware can prevent crashing my flash memory.

I hope nokia will take a look at this problem and improve there products!!!!

i have the 3600 and roughly had same problem and maybe got lucky? i was installing a lot of stuff one after another...then ran a few things, then went to run kama sutra, then said it was loading....stopped...then phone restarted, after that i got a error message no matter what i did (eg, at startup: System Error: Start Up, System Error: Menu, System Error: Camera...etc for everything...it would work, just gave me errors and ran slow) so i tried loading backups i made...didnt work, and then i restarted and couple restarts gave me SIM card invalid error...then that went away, finally did the whole *#7370# garbage and that fixed it...called up tech support because i didnt want it to happen again, they said either send in to tech or replaced at place i bought it at (which i will be doing in a day or two), and i asked them if this was common? he said yes it tends to be, but usually the phones always work normal after a full clean reformat back to factory settings...but mine still runs slow now and then doing absolutly nothing...but couldnt tell me more because it is so new no one knows much about it........they needa get the people who designed this on the tech support, and have a area to call for series 60 users :)

I am comtemplating da same thing....they have given me a new fone....but da mmc is still old 1. Shud I get that chnaged aswell?? I recently formatted it and it seems to be ok now.

Im glad that im not the only one who has crashed a 3650. Its the dreaded nokia logo that after 3 nokia logos turns off. I bet that this is a factory defect from nokia and should have recalled their 3650's that have this kind of problem.Im from the philippines and I bet ya I am not the only one who have this kind of problem here. Too bad the 3650 had a factory defect, it was a great phone at first.

I had the same problem last month. I sent the phone back to Nokia Services Center 3 weeks ago, and just got it back yesterday. It seems working fine now, but I don't think I will keep this phone. It is just too fancy, and has too many functions, not too reliable. I'd rather replace it with a simple phone that at least could make a phone call while i need to.

The phone was 10 days old, so they overnighted me a replacement.

I am still very worried about an application or game crashing my phone.. Especially freeware programs. If it happens past the warranty I am SOL.

I just got my 3650 fixed from an authorized nokia center for free! ... its because my phone is under warranty folks. It took me 1 week to get my phone. Not bad. They said that an IC was corrupt and needed to be replaced. But I never got the part that was replaced after I got the phone back. They changed the version from a v2.5 to a v3.13. since then, it never crashed, froze, nor got a kernel error, or any error or some sort since it was replaced. Too bad I lost my appetite for the phone. Im selling it asap. :D I guess it wasn't the right phone for me.

Hey Guys in From Cebu Philippines,

I a nokia 3650 same problem I deleted something and the phone show up some error msg and I tried to restart it.

Now only the nokia logo shows up until it fades and restarts Im really so up set with this.

I brought my phone to Brightpoint and official nokia service center here, they say they are unble to Flash to phone, and they will try to replace the flash IC today, if the problem still persist they will send it to Nokia Manila for a major repair.

I have been waiting for more than 2 weeks until today just to wait for that flash IC spare part to come!! Well tomorrow is the judgement day.

I hope it can be reapir with just replacing the flash IC,

hmm this was not a big news just to let you now this is a big problem with the firmware 2.35 to 2.55 only thing you can do is to upgrade the firmware to 3.16 then you will not get any error more :D

Hi, my SW version was 2.15 i'll tell them to upgrade it to the latest 3.xx series.

Thank you guys for helping, still hoping that the flash ic replacement cured the problem, I'll be able to find out in an hour from now , im keeping my fingers cross.

I hope with the SW version 3.xx series there would be no problem like this man! if ever this phone gets fixed im too scared to delete Messages on it or pictures cuz this is what caused the problem..

UPDATE: (hope it helps da new poor souls with dis problem)

1) There have been some cases wher da fone went from bad to worse after an upgrade to 3.16

so imo....if ur 2.54 or lower is working ok....then dont go for an upgrade. Why fix sumthin dat aint broke?

2) Flash IC seems to be coming up alot in dis particular problem. Can sum1 throw a light on dis component....in detail? I know ther has been some discussion on dis b4...but tis not in details.

3) Some...but very few fones were cured after flashing da C disk or part by part flash.

4) Most common possible reasons for occurance of dis problem have been da following:

-Deleted sms
-Using bluetooth
-Removed battery without turning off da power.
-Battery was low
-Diskspace was low

5) Request da mods to make dis thread sticky....cuz almost every 2nd day ther seems to be a case of da dreaded nokia logo.

Hey Guys, I encountered this problem twice, here's the details:

1. On 11 July 2003, when I was playing using Goboy, my phone automatically turn itself off, then nokia logo appear/disappear 3 times.

2. I proceed to Nokia Care, in SM North EDSA (Philippines), they quoted me 7,500 pesos ( US$ 140 more or less ), for parts and labor, they told me, they will send my phone to NOKIA Philippines.

3. After 1 week, they call me about the cost of repair, it was reduce to 3,500 pesos ( US$ 65 more or less ) with 3 months warranty and ready for pick-up. I check the version, still 2.50.

4. This happened again last Sept. 21, 2003 (warranty expired), same thing, playing then shut down, this time, I proceed to SEMICON North EDSA, charge me 500 pesos ( $10 ), and will send my phone to their main branch.

5. Today, I call them, they will upgrade the phone but will lost all the stored data, I agree and they told me to call them on Monday.

Hi guys ill tell you what I did to my phone before this nokia logo thing appear

1) I was installing irremote 1.0 over 0.97
2) it say epsint.dll is not valid when I run it.
3) So using a filemanager I moved the so called epsint.dll (crack)
to the root directory of C:\ of phone memory

4) after cut and paste phone displays erroe message stating something like (Exec Kern Eror) Phone whites out and restarts but cannot start succesfully

5) until now the phone is dead it just display the nokia logo fades and restarts

Im very upset with this, I sent the phone to a nokia service center they replace FLASH IC but problem still persist (No Succes)

They will send the phone to NOKIA manila which has a higher service level.

I thought that the FLASH IC is not the one or not the only one damaged but also the UEM IC which what was dimitri was saying a few days ago.

Whats a UEM IC guys? is it different from Flash IC?

Im very upset with this I have to wait for more than 3 weeks to 1 month..

the problem is the firmware version i will recommend that all that have firmware from 2.11 - 2.55 to upgrade to firmware v 3.16 or newer they do it for free many of the nokia servie center and i was told from a guy that work on nokia center that this is a big firmware problem on this phones some are lucky with 2.50 but many are unlucky with this firmware version :-?

hey guys, I have my replaced 7650 for 3 months!!!
i used to use "space doubler" as a guy before some posts.
i removed the battery after an error, my 7650 was dead..
2 nokia services anaible to flash it, so they replaced it..
a good friend of mine used to have a 3650(he sold it, cause
he killed it 3 times!!!!)
nokia service replaced his mobile -or the hardware, dont know) 3 times.
As far as i remember 1 time he killed it with Ir-remote,
next time with goboy and the other time while was trying to
register his zipman1.3 with the keygenerator code
All 3 times he was breaking my balls about the cracked programs
that i was giving to him, but after all he understood the problem of 3650's

hope u guys get a new phone, like me + my friend received from nokia

hmm this was not a big news just to let you now this is a big problem with the firmware 2.35 to 2.55 only thing you can do is to upgrade the firmware to 3.16 then you will not get any error more :D

I didn't realize that the nokia 3650 is so problematic. I just got my phone a week ago. Anyway, my phone died sometime after I played Bejeweled last night. This morning I found it off and couldn't turn it on. I tried plugging in the wall charger but the battery bar didn't even appear. I also got the flashing nokia logo everytime I turn it on. I was going to buy a new battery but after reading this forum, I think that I should call the service center and send it back.
