free fast download of firmware nhl8_315.zip for nokia 3650

hi all

it took me just 4 days - many attemps - help of friends in europe on a backbone ( all the previous attemps had a downlaod speed of 200 to max 400 bytes / s average ;-) even on backbone !
even on backbone only a few hundred bytes/sec speed) to get my firmware for the nokia3650 - hence 10-12 hrs IF no black out / brown out AND internet cafe NOT closing AND ISP NOT crashing before download finish !!.

as a guest living here in the philippines ( all nokia 3650 here are sold with anything from firmware version 1.3 to max 2.5 and no updates available unless YOU bring update [and pay the 14-16 us $ for the actual update ] ) - i would like to offer a fast solution for free for all HERE.

i have place my complete downloaded file nhl8_315zip ( approx 11MB ) on my own commercial server for a limited number of free downloads ( because i have a limited number of monthly GB bandwidth still unused on my fast server ! ).

any one in the philippines having similar problem please send an SMS to my cell

Thanks for your efforts, but I think its not worth anymore to download the version 3.15. If your still in the Phils, go to Greenhills, there is a store in the 2nd floor that can upgrade ur 3650 to v3.16 already (just ask around, sorry i cant mention the store's name, i was not paid to advertise!). And if ur not in a hurry, wait for a few weeks and the v4.05 will also be available...

... to go to manila would be one way at least 280 km - and some people are in one of the some 7200+ islands/islets of the philippines ....

i know in TV advertisements, etc and many other places talking about philippines means for many manila only - but manila has some 12 million nice people ..

like many people in ww often think all the world is USA ... (despite the fact that USA has less than 5% of worldpopulation !)

.. and what about the OTHER 65 or so MILLIONS OUT of manila ...

they all have no greenhills and NO nokia service center at all !!!

WE HERE in provincial areas have 80+ % of phil population ( now today i am in LA UNION - later again in visayas !! ) WE HERE ALSO have cell phone coverage AND thousands of nice people connecting via nokia

- v315 or 3.16 never mind - but NO v. 1.3 or v. 2.5 !!

ni the file nhl8_315.zip as offered for download on nokiafree.org, the language support is missing ...

after searchng for many days a repair facility here in the Philippines ( n my province ) who can make a flasher update usig griffin box - the attempted update with the firmware 3.15 as downloadedd from nokiafree.org resulted in an error because the language support is MISSING in that version !!

how did YOU solve that problem ?

the last version available HERE in PH in my provice would be v. 2.5 !!

you ask me questiosn i dont know to answer without studying nokia technology and firmware frist !!

i actually wanted to be a simple and happy user of my nokia 3650 ... nothing more nothing less ! ;-)

finally i got the update ( using griffin ) but only to version 2.41 ! ( any versin higher ended in error message )

while i have NOW after update less crashes or freeze up or hangers

i still can NOT login to ANY sites requiring any user/password( except my providers site ) - BUT of course i can SURF all web !!!

any application that uses user name and password ( such as YFtp, MuTelnet or the built in POP / SMTP .. ) always hangs ( time out ) when the usrname/password exchange starts.

the only application that so far CAN successfully longin to MY own POP server is "EmailViewer" - a java application using MY POP server and the smtp srver from the application programmer ... i maty safely assume that ALL protocoll for POP/SMTP is included INside that java application and that it does NOT use anything from the symbian or firmware at all ... but not 100 % sure !)

i have even opened another email account ( HotPOP.com ) with the same result - NO login for POP / SMTP possible !!

while i am NOT sure if the firmware alone is responsible - i KNOW for sure that i have ZERO problem with ANY email client on the market for win AND LINUX to login on my own server.

hence i must assume that some of the basic software routines used for username / password IN the FIRMWARE may be buggy ...

the question is ..

HOW do people update to firmware v 3.15 or 3.16 using griffin box and software ... what is the use of version 3.15 or higher IF i see that others have to downgrade to 2.41 ( as myself ) and have difficulties with 2.50 even ...

if anyone KNOWS a precise repair center IN Manila that can actually and successfully do a firmware upgrade to anything NEW - pls tell me exact address and if possible cp # ... as i may be traveling very soon there.

if 3.16 is large like some 70 MB - do i need a larger ??? MMC or what ?? to get it IN MY original 3650 ??

IS THERE ACTUALLY ONYONE out there HAVIng A 3650 running with a new version including language packs ?

If you thoroughly read my post, I already mentioned the location of the store- it is in Greenhills, 2nd floor (2nd floor virramall building to be exact). There are several cellfone stores there, and I tried one that is capable of upgrading the 3650 to 3.16 (I did not check all the stores, other maybe capable also). The info I gave in my post is GOOD ENOUGH help for the forumers. You don't need to ASK AROUND MANILA (because Greenhills is in San Juan and NOT IN MANILA) just to see this store, you are not that stupid, are you?

I want to make it clear to you that I DON'T NEED TO BE PAID to help others. Don't brag around that you can PAY anyone or anybody here, are you really that rich?! I did not mention the store's name here simply because: I DON'T WANT OTHERS TO THINK THAT I OWN THE STORE AND I AM USING THIS FORUM AS FREE ADVERTISING MEDIUM! Be practical; the cost of upgrading a 3650 in Greenhills is 1,000 to 1,500 pesos (US$20-30), imagine how rich this store will be if I post their name here! Use your common sense man, companies or businessmen pay millions to those who advertise their company or products!

Hi fnvillafuerte, just wanna ask if you could post how much it cost you to upgrade your N3650 firmware? And how long it took for them to do it...

Did you have to re-install all the files you had installed on your MMC after you've upgraded your phone firmware?

at least you have given an exact location - with that i am sure a taxi driver can find the place and i can find second floor and ask each cellphone store there !!

- i am not at all rich - and prefer to spend most for the poor and needy here - but if for example only 10 people would be driving around in manila ( or san juan ) - searching around - wasting hours each - may be more costly than one paying P 1000 or so to get precise info for the benefit of ALL who need help in updating firmware !

I paid 1,000 pesos to upgrade my 3650 to 3.16. It was about 3 weeks ago and it is really expensive at that time because that was the first available upgrade, and they are the only one who can do it. My friend went to that store yesterday and he was charged 600 pesos only for the 3.16 upgrade!

The actual upgrade is only about 30 mins. All my previous installed s/w in MMC and my phonebook were not erased during the upgrade because the store was kind enough to back-up everything first and restored them to my fone later.

Yes you're right, the 1,000-1,500 for an upgrade is a rip-off, but I have no choice at that time because they are the 1st and only one capable of doing it then. The price had gone down to 600 as experienced by my friend yesterday.
