Ok so this is all purely theory and i'm just curious...

Say someone had a mobile that was insured with one mobile phone shop. Now say they traded that mobile in for another phone in yet another shop.

I know in the uk they are now able to track imei numbers to deactivate stolen mobiles.

so say that someone then reported the phones as lost - would the mobile then be deactivated or would i have to have the imei number to get this done - or is the imei kept by the shop who supplied the phone so that in the event of the phone being 'lost' or 'stolen' and a replacement being required - that the 'lost' or 'stolen' phone wouold be useless??

I supposes what i'm actually sayin is if someone said then phone was lost in order for insurance to replace it would the person fiund himself in trouble over the other phone if it was traded in and used by someone else??

(i hope someone can decifer that and understand it - sorry!!) :D

in other words u have or are planning to trade in your current phone(which has insurance on) to a mobile phone shop, then tell the other phone shop its been lost so you can get a replacement

the phone with insurance on will be barred as the network and or phone shop have the imei

if the other phone shop have your details and they find its barred you could be in trouble

if the phone you are trading in is being used on contract which is still under the 12 month period, then you will probably be charged an upgrade fee
