Hi :)
What exactly do you mean by "convert"..? The 6800 is a tri-band phone, in North america you use mainly the 1900 MHz band, and in europe it's the 900 and 1800 MHz bands... the phone works with all of them out-of-the-package.
You might need to unlock the phones if they are locked to an american (1900 MHz) network. But a conversion (hardware mod) is not required.
How much you wanna pay for that info now? :)
Joking...................................... :)
Kind regards...

Thanks for the reply, that was my thoght as well. The problem came about when we sent the phone to the UK and they complained it would not aquire a signal. As a side note, the phones are unlocked for all of the bands. The packaging on the box states.....Operates on GSM/GPRS 850/1900 North American Frequencies. The deal is is that we are selling these for $349.00 excluding shipping and it seems it's a good deal overseas. We are just trying to make sure that it will operate on all of the net works. I am to ship 20 of these baby's to Switzarland in a few days and we need to know if they will work. If you can do a little research and get back to us either by the forum, email or telephone 1-618-457-2868 we would really be greatful. Oh yea, if you have a Paypal account or some other type of online payment way, through it our way and I will hook you up. Thank you....

Well, the thing is... there's no way the North American (GSM850/1900) phone could be converted to European (GSM900/1800) spec.
Trust me. The only way would be for you to change the phones' RF circuitry, and that might prove to be more expensive/complicated than you would want. Another option would be to swap motherboards with Euro phones with damaged screens or something (that is, un-damaged, cheaper motherboards).
That's it...

Are we coming to the conclusion that they will not work in Europe at all, will they go into a default roam or some thing? If they are Tri-modes, then I assume they would work on one of the bands in Europe. Thank you.

As far as I can gather from Nokia USA, these phones are EXPRESSLY NOT tri-band. They're only either 850/1900 or 900/1800 MHz, so they won't even roam in Europe or anywhere else that does not use North American GSM bands.
My best shot at exporting these phones would be Canada or Latin America (except Brazil) where a few countries have adopted GSM1900.
Just to make sure, e-mail Nokia USA and ask them.
In GSM websites the 6800 is listed as working in all GSM bands because it has in fact two models: a North-Amrican one and a rest-of-the-world one, I think. Nokia just canfused us by not naming them 6810 and 6890 or something.
Hope this helps!
(PS hey where's the money? ;) )

PS.: Maybe you could contact Nokia and have them swap the units you have for Euro-spec ones? There's no reason for any of them to be more expensive.

Hello again!
Sorry for causing this mishap, but i relied on outdated information (source: www.nokia.com!!) which stated the 6800 is a tri-band model. In fact, it is NOT.
It seems that the 6800 is available in different versions, i.e. 900/1800 MHz here (asia) and 850/1900 in USA as well as a CDMA or TDMA version in latin america. It is, strangely, always named "6800" with no difference given.
You could eventually sell those american ones here in Bangkok, there's a 1900 MHz network here (Suthep Net, aka "Thai Mobile") but that is not even fully commercial launched yet, they have only a couple thousand users although Nokia (!) sells their SIM's to promote tri-band phones. The US 6800's would work only in inner Bangkok as the national roaming (AIS network) uses GSM 900........... no go with that.
I am sorry to have misinformed you, i did not want to do it. Anyway i would not "sell" information, i give for free what i know (or believe to know) :)
Kind regards.....
