Your problem is known, i've seen alot of phones and looked at their options and functions but none come close to the NOKIA 7650/3650/9210 only the SE P800 is a decent competition.
The most sucky phones around are definetly those cheap SAMSUNG devices!
They suck soooo much i had to cry when i friend showed it to me (s100)!
Whatever you do DON'T BUY A SAMSUNG!!!!
And convince others to do also!
NOKIA IS THE BEST MANUFACUTRER and it's not that i own one it's just the truth!

Where do you live?
For example, in my country, Italy, 3 will block the USIM to work only in UMTS phones, so no chance for others...

I don't want to use the phone for video calling as it is crap!
The tariff is really cheap at the moment and that is all i need it for.
I have managed to get my 7650 to work on three now but it does come up with 'updating Sim' but if you press OK, the phone reboots and the meaage appears again. You can bypass this by pressing the menu button on the 7650 and it says as a task and you can use the phone as normal.
The only other problem i am having is i can't find out the GPRS settings for three so i cannot send any picture messages. Does anyone have any ideas on what these could be?
Long live the 7650!

I thought it'd be totally uncompatible, due to different receivers etc..?
Thought the 7650 was only designed to work on GSM networks. Are you sure its not just working via a normal network? Coz I heard that in areas not covered by 3, the 3G phones will switch to a terrestrial, sort of like roaming abroad.

3 phones are dual-mode GSM-UMTS so no problem! And the pure UMTS line is not very large, only in the biggest cities, in the rest of the country 3 switch to GSM and can use GPRS without problem roaming with other operators.
So you can use any gsm phones with the USIMs.
The problem, I repeat, is that in my country 3 want to lock its sims to work only with UMTS phones.

The phone works fine here in England there does not seem to be any restrictions.
But again i can't find out the GPRS settings, the Gateway IP etc...
