hi guys!

I know I may sound absurd... but I need to get in touch if any of you guys are programmers. I mean symbian ones.

Why?
Because... I'm presently a student in a computer school and I and my group plan to do softwares for the series 60 platform celfones which is obviously the 7650, 3650 and the upcoming 6600. :D

I need help. this will be a very risky thing for us to do specially that we'll be starting from scratch for we don't know a single thing about the symbian OS and symbian installation file (.sis)

so, if there's someone of you guys are programmers, that would be a great help. I heard, we need to get a "Symbian dev't Kit" that costs a $1,150. wow! that's expensive. Is it possible that we can get it somewhere for a lesser price or better yet for free? also, how do we go about it. One thing I can promise is for sure... whatever applications we may develop, whether a new one or a better version of an existing one... I'll gladly share it here, for this is now my home in the net with my 3650. :)

btw, my e-mail add is [email protected]

thanks guys.

they have the developer kits there for download. though it would be a big download - 90mb, so unless you've got broadband you'll have to look for an alternative solution on where to get the kits.

check the links I indicated above. i think you could use them. plus nokia and java (www.java.sun.com) have free SDKs for download all you have to do is register. i think they have SDKs for C++ and Borland.

Good luck. and whatever you guys come up with make sure you let us in on it :D

spandau n pages,

the majority of java software out there usually pertains to gaming. you're right i think the more useful file that you should develop should tap into the phone's system itself. utilize what functionality the phone and the OS has to offer. explore the phones voice command, use sms, the calendar option, even look into the possibility of tweaking the symbian OS.

not that java's not that good or something, it's just that it only touches the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the number of possibilities that we could do to a phone like the 7650 or 3650.

the challenge for you therefore is to indeed surprise us. come up with an app that is both fun and useful.

good luck and let us know how we can be of help (ideas or beta testing-wise).

btw: wanna ask have you tried doing a or made any app. for symbian? just asking dude..i dont want to offend you or what.

but once i've finished my app. i'll be giving you a beta or perhaps a copy..

and may i ask what program would read a .sis file? want to have an idea how do they do or what the other programmers using to crack an app.?

i haven't actually tried to make an app or anything. but i paln to try in the near future.

as for cracking i think they de-compile it first. i think this would be easy if you know C++ or Borland.

hi spandau,
yeah... let's help each other...
what i know is... yes you will use C++ then compile it to .sis instead of .exe
haven't started on one yet though.
as of how to crack.... I guess that's reverse engineering but i don't know how and what to use to do that. it's like from .exe then decompiled back to .c
