Does anyone know if the firmware of the Nokia 7250 can be upgraded to the 7250i yet?

If so is anyone in the UK doing this?

Cheers :)

Sorry, still not possible.....but lots of people are trying to find where is the problem.
If u try to do this now u get the "Contact Service" advise, and if u try to reflash the phone to 7250 it may not work again. U have to recalibrate it, to make it work again:(

It seems that there is some kind of IMEI check in the software...but still not sure about it.

Come on guys, any more news?

the way i see it, the only difference between 7250i and 7250 is:

1) pictures pop up when someone calls
2) there's a image editor
3) there's a more updated webviewer

I like my 7250 and just wondering if there is anyway to change the image that are used for the caller groups?

is there any java image editor?

webviewer 3 works fine i think.. as a webviewer

thanks.. hope u can help me!!

I can confirm what you said as I tried flashing mine and sure enough it went into contact service.

so I flashed it back and the flash worked but the locks were damaged, so I unlocked it which seemed to fix that but it had no service and when I searched for networks it found them but said no access

so have sent it back to nokia see what they say, if they will fix it for me.

so does this mean that nokia have changed some address settings of the firmware to be located inside the locking mechanism of the old 7250??? therefore overwriting it and because the 7250 firmware never wrote into that area, you were unable to flash back to its original state???

does sound like they have put the WRITE ONCE dct4 chip thing, into another address of the phone.

Dont think so cos I did manage to repair the locks, and it did accept the sim

but I'm not 100% sure

ohhh well keep us updated on what nokia says...

can someone get us some internal information on series 40 phones? i think the for starters i want to know which arm series it is?

i think its a arm7dmti(forgot name the one in GBA)
well that was in the old non colour phones, and they used only 16bit instructions.. aka thumb instructions vs 32bit code...

well a memory layout and boot location would be nice also,

and also if the firmware is encrypted in anyway?

From what I've heard after flashing the phone you need to change the uem OTP and eeprom data with something like a trisha box to get the phone working again.

Nokia UK have confirmed they are relenting on the 7250 to 7250i upgrade, they state it is impossible on some phones, and if this is the case they will replace it free of charge, Club Nokia confirmed this ( said will be available in all service centres in a week or two ), but the letter was printing in the current issue of What Mobile magazine [:)]

Anyone contacted the service centre then?

Slightly off topic, but I bought my 7250 from ebay so do not have a receipt or owt for it, however you need proof of purchase when you take your phone to a service centre. Any ideas as to what i'd be able to do to get the upgrade?

you don't need proof of purchase in the service centres i go in ( two diffrent one's around newcastle) providing the imei is within warranty.

Is there some link to a news page in which it's possible to have official confirmation?
I live in Italy, do you think that Nokia will assume the same attitude all over the world?

Tnx

I live in the U.S. California.
Is there any Nokia Care Centers or anything like one, that I can get the 7250 to 7250i update when it’s out, the closer to the Los Angeles area the better.

I asked around the Cignaler, AT&T & other phone stores, but they didn’t know what I was talking about. They didn't even know you could update a phones software.
