I can't help at the moment but i'm hopefully getting a 3g phone when my current contract runs out in sept. So hopefully then I can start playing about with mine. I'd of thought these phones would probably be like the dct4 phones and only require the codes to unlock them.

For what I can gather ( someone correct me if I am wrong) the current 3g network in the uk use handsets which are a GSM/TDMA hybrid, so what would be the point in unlocking them because you wouldnt be able to use any of the features on a 2g network. all you would have is a big phone with a couple of cameras in it.

and once the 3g network covers all of the uk and does not need to piggyback on o2's network they won't have sim cards any more.

and there is a section devoted to TDMA/CDMA

3G phones are backward compatible with 2G networks/ sim cards. You won't be able to use video call etc, but you can still make a call and use text messaging.
