Which Network?

Hi

Is there any way to find out exactly which network my phone is on?

I just bought it from a mate and have an orange sim. The phone is supposedly a sim free which was used with an Orange pay as you go the same as my sim, but all i get is "no network coverage" and "no access"

The phone is a nokia 6610

Is there anything I can do?

if the phone works with the orange sim, it's either locked to orange, or not locked at all.

"no access" is what you get when you try to log on to a network that you don't have access to, competetive network for example.

"no network coverge" - explains itself.

i think that you are on an area where ther is no coverege of the home network (home network = the simcards network), so the phone tries to log on to another network - but get denied.

bottom line - try using a sim of another provider, if phone is locked - post a request for unlock code in the dct4 codes section, with your imei and orange network code.

make sure that network selection option is set to "automatic".
(Menu > Settings > Phone Settings > Network Selection > Automatic). restart the phone after this.
