It depends..
Mine (Sony VAIO 600mhz, 128mb) works 100% for ALL operatons including flashing..
You just have to make sure your laptop has a parallel (and in cases, a serial) port available. Try it out - some dont work (like the problematic compaq ones.. Newer models are buggy for these functions)
If you are using Rolis Flasher try changing the delay index (in the options menu... move it up and down a little until you get it right)
Futher than that I cannot recommend anything.. :/

go to bios settings and configure parralel port to ecp and
try to use dark flasher 214b where you can select cpu speed from slow to fast and select flash id list for diff models of nokia
some laptops run on a lower voltage which means that a lower voltage will appear on the lpt port. this will not matter for printers but may for flashing cables

hi,
i have a question:
i have a notebook Dell Latitude Pentium 3 running under Win98 and with 256MB of RAM.
I having problem when i try to read flash from my 8250 phone, the error asking me to check cable, contact, or phone model.
But, I did the samething on my 3310, everything OK?!
AND, I did the same phone 8250, same cable, on my DESKTOP PC, everything OK.
So, I believe it is not cable or phone or software or setting(i checked all configuration in bios and setup) problem.
I think it is my notebook problem....
Anyone encounter this problem, if yes, how can i solve it.?????
Please help.
NOTE: Anyone try flashing using Pentium 4 system (desktop or notebook) yet ?
Tz.

if you notebook can't use to flash phone because of low voltage, than you can power up your dejan flash with external power.
you can use a 9volt battery, adaptor or power from serial port.but besure you use the 7805 ic to change the external power to 5 volt only.

@ ccwong
you can draw 5 volts from USB or even the mouse/keyboard connector. search for the pinouts on the net, I personally use the keyboard connector and it works fine.
