Sorry people i know you have said about all there is to say regarding software upgrades. and i have gone back over the posts to try and fix myself, but no joy.
i tried to upgrade soft ver. 5.28 to 5.31 on nok 8210, first i wrote wrong file to wrong address. phone would not switch on at all. i made back up of my phone all i have is 1 file about 2meg.
i had a point when contact service came on after insert sim, now contact service comes on straight away. i am trying to use knock 22 but now when i try to flash any file to my phone it says, 'FLS1_PreparePhone : detected NMP is NSM-3D
FLS1_PreparePhone : not supported NMP - NSM-3D
Cannot prepare phone'.
Please can some one help.

eeprom tools say reason for contact service is
'mcu eeprom interface test failaed'
'eeprom tune checksum test failed'

guides on www.liambramwell.com for firmware upgrade show you how, but i can tell you here in basic form.

get the 5.31 MCU+PPM file for your 8210

load Rolis DCT3 Flasher 4.77
write the 5.31 file to your 8210
phone should turn on after completion, if contact serivce then you flashed a buggered eeprom or flashed over the eeprom.

In this case you need a full 8210 backup flash which is 4mb when unzipped, flash this, and with Knok b22, change the IMEI, calc the FAID and unlock it and all should work ok

Failing that, if you live in the UK, i will repair for the cost of return postage, which is about £5 insured.

just noticed you wrote this:

FLS1_PreparePhone : not supported NMP - NSM-3D

NSM-3D is 8250, you have been flashing an 8250 or your phone is being detected as an 8250. - You must first repair it to normal 8210 status if your phone is a 8210 first ok?

Cheers mate you were right, recignised as 8250. Knock 22 does not support 8250, so had to use xpmobilepro to write my original file back.
Still having problems writing s/w upgrade files. Phone either contact service straight away or does not switch on.
Wil try and find more info first.
Thanks once again.
