Hi there!

I've got this 5130 and it used to perform normally (and very well BTW).

Trouble is, now it has stopped locking onto the operator signal. It simply won't pick up any signal (no network, no signal strenght).

That's not a flash problem. I have re-flashed the phone, set FAID, etc. That's also not a matter of 5130 beign single-band 1800MHz as that's the only GSM band available in my country.

Also, when it does pick up a signal (showing full strenght) no calls can be made or received.

Phone shows operator name but call are not completed and phone won't receive any calls (the calling party gets the usual recording saying that the phone's turned off or outside coverage area).

So my guess is the problem's on the hardware.

Does anyone have a clue that could help me fix this?

Many thanks,

Rehot RF amplifier or RF IC ;)

Thanks DeCODER!

Trouble is, I don't have a soldering iron or hot air gun.

Erm... Will a hair-dryer do the job? :D

Hey, phone is not lost...OK ;) ?

Buy a not more expensive hot air blower whitch you saw on my link and from cca 10-15cm rehot the desk for max. 20sec.

It must work fine :)

Hi,
have you tried to search for the network manualy?

menu 4-2-4 (in 5110, presume its same for 5130)
select Manual, let it search then,
hopefully it will find a network :)

Well it does find the networks sometimes but then it won't lock onto any signal.

Can I use a hairdryer?

Well, that's remembers me at something...

I had a 3310 and it was broke, and I read in an other forum, that you must put the GSM in a oven 220 degrees for about 10 minutes. Covered with 3 layers aluminium-foil. So, it did this and the phone worked! 100% true! If ya want to do this please make sure that the oven is already heated and only put the mainboard in the oven.
