Hi

I am trying to find out how to un-lock the Nokia 8310 when it is asking for the PUK code. I am fully aware that this can be obtained from my network.

However, at any local market or shopping mall there are people who will charge £10 to un-lock the phone. They simply key in a code and the phone works again !!!

Does anybody know what they type in ??

If your phone has been barred then the network is the only option to unlock it........ If your phone is locked to one network and you want to use it on another one then post your IMEI number and network for the phone and I'll post the codes for you to put into your phone!

Thats my point though, the bloke in the street or at a market doesnt call anybody, he simply takes the phone and types in the number. So this means he either makes an amazing guess or he knows a code that is universal for all phones !!!!!

I am trying to find out what that code is or how he does it.

So your phone is barred then??

If it is because it is a DCT4 phone you won't be able to do it.

My Nokia 8310 is not blocked.

All I want to know is how or what they do to un-lock a phone that is asking for the PUK code.

It takes them about 10 seconds, I have seen them do it and would like to know the secret.

There has to be a code, button press sequence etc that allows the phone to be re-activated.

Yuo need to get a DCT4 calculator...

If you post your IMEI number (found under the battery on your phone) and the network and country the phone is locked to I can calculate theses codes for you!

I appreciate this but are you then saying that the bloke in the street calculates this and ebters the codes all in 10 seconds ??

Wow he must be extremly clever to be able to do all that in his head without even taking off the cover or asking any questions !!

He can't be unlocking phones then ........ There are no standard codes?? You can find out the imei number by putting in *#06*

Perhaps thats wot he is doing?
There is no other way believe me.

They cannot know with the PUK only the network has it,

the people on the market stall must have been confused with what you wanted,

there are no code gen software or data cable you can use to get past the PUK it just cannot be done by anyone but the network.

Oh it must have been my imagination that my phone was asking for the PUK code and that I payed £10 for him to take 10 seconds to un-lock it and that it was then usable again !!!!!

Why did you pay them when you know you can get it free from the network

It was a sarcastic answer. I don't actually have a blocked phone, I just want to know how it is done if you were not to phone the network.

I really don't think it can be.

In fact I know it cannot be done any other way than ringing your network, unless you are on t-mobile in which case your PUK in printed on the bit of paper your sim is stuck to when you buy it
