In Israel, Bluetooth is not yet leagal (the army hold the frequency).
You can't buy a BT enabled phone here so my menu item #11 (Bluetooth) is not visible.
do you know how to release it as well?

you need only a freely available calculator
http://www.freewebs.com/hollowman/Cybergsm_DCT4_1.4.zip
download with right-click and a little knowledge
bluetooth has to be enabled via product profile, go to a nokia service point and tell them to flash phone after enabling bluetooth in product profile. on the label under your battery there is a product code like 05XXXX or 06XXXX. in service software there is a corresponding file 05XXXXX.ini or 06XXXXX.ini
in this ini-file there is an entry xxxx.pp change this value to euro.pp and flash phone. after that bluetooth will be enabled

do you mean I can't do it by my self?
I can't go to a service point as it is illegal for them to enable BT.
Can you advise other solution?
BT is very important as I have BT on my laptop (bought in Germany, not in Istael :-( )
Thanks,
Danny

sorry, at the moment there is no self-service solution
try it in a service center in Germany next time you're there

So please explain to me in simple words what I should ask for.
I do not understand what is "to flash phone after enabling bluetooth in product profile"`and all the rest.
also, will I loose anything?
thanks,
Danny

sorry, not all service centers will do this for you, and it's not that quite simple as the new nokia service software versions deactivated the easy going menu for this
but I will try to help you:
flashing means software update
in the nokia phoenix software is a file C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\products\npl-1\israel.pp
this file sets product profile after flashing phone
in israel.pp there is an entry 10 0 (means bluetooth disabled)
I attach such a file with bluetooth enabled (10 1)
Find a service partner, he should replace (after made a backup)original israel.pp with the one in zip-file and flash your phone. This will enable bluetooth in your phone.
But think about, that using your phone in Isreal is illegal then, your are only allowed to use it in other countries like EU, USA etc.

I guess it is not possible to put hands on such a program, eh?
Well, the issue of BT is, sorry to say, goes down to money.
The army hold all the frequencies and claim it will "harm" the sequrity of Israel if he will give up the frequency. BUT he already gave up on it: WiFi is legal and it also uses the 2.4MHz and to much longer distances. So all they want is money they claim to replace the machine they have on 2.4. Bullshit.
And what about all the tourists and Israelies who bought their phones out of Israel? The military machines are not harmed from them?

if you are in Germany next time go to a Nokia SYSTEM Center (higher service level) and tell them, that you've moved from Israel to Germany and want to use bluetooth now. They have a dongle for phoenix to enable bluetooth with one click without flashing phone. It could be that they will charge you with around 40 euros.

ISRAELI NOKIA 7650 USERS:
In order to recive instructions on enabling bluetooth send an email to:
[email protected]
And you will receive an email in hebrew explaining what to do.
Enjoy and please note that until October 1st 2003 it is illegal to activate this feature so use at your discretion.

the army made tests with bluetooth frequencies to see if bluetooth devices really harm their machines transmissions, and found that a certain amount of devices (phones in this case) can really harm wireless transmissions of the army.
but, a few phones that people bring from other countries, tourists using bluetooth etc, is not enough to actually change something, only a large amount of phones can, so the ministry of communication decided to forbid the selling of bluetooth-enabled phones in a commercial way, but using a bluetooth enabled phone in israel is not illegal.

The link from your bt.autoresponder is blocked by my-symbian (no direct entry).
Can you tell me the prog name so I can search for it there?
