Hello :)
This forum is truly international, and i wanted to start this thread out of pure interest. With the information i hope to collect here you can also see wether you can use your phone in another country, or can import a phone from there and use it your country.
I would like to know:
What network systems and operators are in your country,
what frequencies do they use?

I start with my country, which is

Thailand:
Analog:
AMPS 800 (D-Tac "New 800", countrywide)
NMT 900 (AIS "Cellular 900", countrywide)
Digital:
GSM 900 (AIS "GSM Advance", countrywide)
GSM 1800 (DPC "GSM 1800", only major cities/provinces)
GSM 1800 (Orange, countrywide)
GSM 1800 (D-TAC, former "WP 1800", countrywide)
GSM 1900 (Suthep "Thai Mobile", only inner Bangkok)
CDMA 2000-1x (Hutch, greater Bangkok)
CDMA 95 (Hutch, former CAT, up country)

WAP via AIS, Orange, D-TAC
GPRS via AIS (major provinces), D-TAC (countrywide)
EDGE via D-TAC (Bangkok, testing stage)

Unconfirmed network:
Analog NMT 450 "TOT", not known if still operating

Planned network:
Digital TDMA "Suthep (Thai Mobile)" outside Bangkok

National roaming:
DPC "GSM 1800" auto-roams with AIS "GSM Advance" when outside of coverage area and using dual-band phone, manually roams with D-TAC when outside of coverage area using single band 1800 phone.
"Orange" manually roams with AIS "GSM Advance" when outside of coverage area, need to sign up for that service!

Phones sold here are generally unlocked, even pre-paid package phones. D-TAC started IMEI blocking for phones reported stolen, with a global data base (CEIR).

Kind regards....
