Hi there :)
I have a really ancient phone, i believe it's made 1996. It is a Pioneer PCC-D 500, which looks, feels and behaves exactly like the Motorola "Flare" from the same time.
It also take's the Moto's battery, charger and spare antenna. I have now re-animated this phone, after junking it 3 years ago and never charging the battery for all the time, now it's once again working, getting network, even able to be used for calling.
What i wish to know is about it's software, which seems to be identical to the "Flare" as well.
This phone (mine) can receive SMS, but can NOT send or compose them. Has there been a version of the "Flare" (it was on the market quite a while.....) which can also send SMS, and would it be possible to upgrade my Pioneer with that software, if so, then how to do that (with which kind of cable and software) and where can i get the flash file fom?
Also about the battery, shame it hasn't been used over three years and was surely "dead deep discharged" but of my three batteries (one Pioneer "original" Ni-Cd, two Motorola NiMH) i could get one to work (one of the Motorola's) and it now stands by for almost 6 hours and allows a non-stop conversation of 20 minutes from full charged (green light on the "IntelliCharge" unit) to shutting off. Is it possible to replace the inner cells with "modern" li-ion cells, will they charge correctly? I want to keep this phone as a backup as the reception is very good, maybe due to the retractable antenna.
BTW does this phone have two watts or four??
I am thankfull for any information and/or advice to this phone.
Kind regards....
your Thanh
