Wow! Thank you for the express reply! I entered the code and received "restriction off" message. I don't have a Rogers SIM around, but I can get one to try on Monday. I'll keep you posted.

And THANKS again! You are very kind... :)

I don't have one. :(
I wanted to try the SIM before I buy one, so I borrowed it from my co-worker. He's got the new one a few weeks ago...

Thanks

Well, that SIM is working fine (the guy is on the phone at the moment!), and I just went to Rogers store and tried another SIM... the same thing - "phone restricted". When I entered the code as mentioned before in this post, I've got the message "restriction off".

Thanks

u dont get me
why do u want to use another sim
have u cancelled your contract or anything?
the phone told u it was unlocked then today a day or 2 later
its saying phone is restricted

this means something may have happend between now and then
u really need to try another simcard from a different network to see if its affected in some way

OK, let's start from the beginning. :)
My phone is locked to Fido, and it's working fine on Fido. I want to be able to use another providers' SIMs (eg. when I travel to Europe). So to check if the phone is really unlocked, I tried Rogers' SIM. And it doesn't accept it. Fido's is OK.

Thanks

yes but u are only trying 1 other simcard and thats for rogers

you say u entered the codes and it told u it was unlocked

you only get 5 chances to enter codes so rather than just give u more codes i am trying to eliminate any possibilites as the code given above was a good code and it also made your phone say that all restrictions were lifted
if u go into your network settings on the phone u can set them manually is there an option for rogers in there?
are there other networks listed
if so try a sim from one of thoughs

correction: it WAS orignally locked to Fido. I entered te unlock code two days ago (which said "restriction off), but wasn't able to try another provider's SIM until today...

try a sim not fido or rogers and tell me what it says then

Oh, I know that you are trying to help me, and I really appreciate that. :)

My phone is set to automatic. I'll borrow the coworker's SIM and set manually ro Rogers to check again, and I'll let you know what's going on. Unfortunatelly, I don't have an access to any other provider's SIM so I'm stuck with Rogers. :)

Again, THANKS SO MUCH! :)

i find it hard to believe u cannot borrow another simcard from another network from anyone for a few seconds to see if it works or not

your in canada not the north pole:)

divandan

Yes, but there are only two GSM providers in Canada (Vancouver): Microcell (Fido) and Rogers. :(

BTW I tried the co-worker's SIM again, but it would only say "phone restrected", it doesn't allow me to enter any settings. :(

Would the unlock code #7 do anything? I used #1 which was given to me, and I know it's supose to to SIM unlock, but I'm just wandering...

feel free to give it a go
just make sure u leave yourself the 3 chances left

as 3 providers use microcell network (fido, simpro, cityfone) and all simcards have a 30237 IMSI, GID 1 value is used, too, to prevent e.g. using a cityfone simcard with a fido phone

yes, code 7 will unlock all locks

I will post your code in about 10 minutes
