Hi,

I've seen ppl talking about a MAD chip in the mobile phone, can someone explain to me what is it ? where is it being used by the phone and how to identify it in a mobile ?

if you are talking about the cpu made from texas instruments then i understand, it's just that i've never had a nokia phone.

thanx.

Yes, it is a chip made by Texas Instruments, it combines a DSP(ARM7tdmi) and a MCU(TMS320), like zillion other chip designs.
It's specifications are closed (that is, there are no public data sheets) And it is used in all DCT3 Nokia phones.

Indeed, got them confused :)

By the way MAD stands for "MCU ASIC DSP''. (ASIC is the misc I/O logic)
