i dont think that a rom 5 8210-8250 conversion is possible because of the lack of memory space in a rom 5 chip

You will have to change the rom5 chips to rom6 chips (V16 IC).

I alredy flashed a rom5 8210 with the 8250 Soft.
I succeeded but if I turn on the phone it freezes with a black display and after 30 sec CONTACT SERVICE was displayed. I had to take off the battery and reflash it with a new soft.

I think its not the space because Rolis Flashed it without any errors. May be the Processor don't know what to do with the Soft in the ROM, like trying to install WinXP on an Apple or the PlayStation2 (ok, linux would work, but linux on an ARM-CPU?) ;-)
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Since a half year I tried to flash a other Soft on a 6110,
it wasn`t made for the ROM type and ROM5 Software or somethig else was displayed.

Well, let's make it clear.

A ROM5 8210 can't be upgrade to 8250, only 8210 with ROM6 can be upgrade to 8250 coz' it doesn't have enough capacity to fit in 8250 flashes.

What you will have to do now is change the IC of 8210 (rom5) to ROM6.

Replacing it with a new ROM6 IC (V16 IC) so that it can be upgrade to 8250!

Linux on an ARM CPU is indeed working, why shall it not?

there are several linux distributions out there for Compaq iPaq and other handhelds based on StrongARM CPU.

Would it be possible to prog a microkernel or kernel for this phones and flash it to them?
Not anymore the boring functions and UI from NOKIA!

I'm not working much with Linux but I know some dipl. ingineurs in Linux.
How much kb or MB whould linux need? Cool, Java Technologie (TM) on a 3330? Implemented HexEditor and Editors for progging without cables and PC?

Ok, it's only a vision but maybe in 2 years it could become true.

Please post!

hallo Enzo

Schade!

Grüsse nach Österreich
Enzo

I have inspirience with ARMLinux, and i'm working on porting linux or at least writing games for nokia phones (i have 3310 and it is a prety cool piece of hardware). I have already ported a Linux kernel on alarm which was powered with ARM7TDMI CirrusLogic CS89712,8MBFlash,8MBRAM,Ethernet processor.Kernel 2.4.18 fits in 300k (gzipped), but i think that the problem is with insufficient memory on 3310 (only 128K). But we can install some embeded Linux kernel which is far smaller and requires less RAM. All we need is documentation about the CPU and peripherials.MAD2 CPU+DSP in Nokia phones is some version of TI's tms320vc5470 If someone have any kind of iformation about MAD2 please email me.
