the software cannot connect to a phone if it is turned off..

make sure that the battery is in it's place when the phone is connected. also, some phons can't turn on when connected to the pc, so first plug the cable into the phone, then turn on the phone, and after that connect the other end of the cable to the pc.

Hi,

The phone gets its power off of the cable, as the whole thing slots into the battery bay and replaces the battery, so the only way I can turn the phone on is if the cable is suppliying power. I tried plugging in the charger at the same time but it still wont turn on.

Thanks,

Thanh

Hi there :)
The phone does NOT get any power from the cable!!!

You need to put the battery into the connector, and then put the connector WITH THE BATTERY INSERTED into the phone.
Be carefull that you put in the battery in the correct direction..... look at the connector (that thing which goes into the phone's battery bay), there are contacts for the battery. Insert the battery so that it fits in there (should "click" in place) and then put the thing into the phone, this does NOT click into place so you might need some rubber elastic band to keep it in there (82xx always a bit flimsy).
Kind regards...

Hi,

Thanks everyone for repliyng, I've now gotten the cable to work, but still can't get userport to do anything.

When I start Rollis Nokia flasher it says I need to install userport, even though its already running.

Any ideas?

Hello again :)
What do you actually want to do with that cable and the phone? You mentioned that you got a "F/M-bus" cable, yet you talk about Rolis, which is to FLASH a phone.

You can NOT flash with that cable!

To flash a phone, you need a flasher cable, which connects to the LPT (printer) port of your computer, and ONLY for that one you need User Port after all.
If you got user port, right click that file "userport.sys" and select "install".... that's it. as long as you don't have a flasher cable, Rolis won't do much with your phone.
With the cable you have you can upload logos and stuff, using such software like Logo Manager. But you can not flash (upgrade phone software). User Port is of no use without flasher :)
Kind regards....

TIP:

1) Remove the sponge from 8xxx onnector tips!

2) Screw the little screws next to the pins down to about 3\4 of a millimeter!

3) It should alsways "Click'!!!

If your using rollis and xp make sure you don't have any ATI-Radeon display drivers running!

On my XP machine I have to disable my video card driver everytime I want to flash a phone!

h-a-l-l-o.... knock knock..... someone listen?

@8910i

you can do what you want with userport, you can set your house on fire or blast the neighbours car, but YOU CAN N-O-T FLASH A PHONE WITH A DATA CABLE !!!
User Port is FOR FLASHING PURPOSE ONLY, and your cable is m-bus/f-bus as you mentioned yourself. THIS CABLE CAN'T FLASH whatsoever.
You need another cable which connects to the LPT (printer) port of your PC. With that you can flash, with or without userport, using Rolis or Knok. The data cable that you have can unlock, read phone info, or upload picture SMS, logos and ringtones via logo manager, that's it.
Why does nobody seem to read the very first post of the thread...........
It's a DATA cable.

Kind regards...
