For example, if you want to create mbm file for your smart clock image, follow these steps:
- Cut your image in jpg, bmp, or gif format into 640x200 pixels
- Run your mbm wizard
- On the very left column, select your drive, sub-folder, n the name of the image you want to convert into mbm format
- click 'Add selected as', the image will be on the preview column
- click File/save as
- done.

BMCONV.exe is a program that koms whit
mbm_wizard
The syntax of the program (obtained by just typing BMCONV at the DOS prompt without any arguments) is as follows:-
BMCONV [/r] [/n] [/hheader] [/q] epocfile [OPT]bmp_1 ... [OPT]bmp_n
BMCONV /u epocfile bmp_1 [... bmp_n]
BMCONV /v epocfile
BMCONV commandfile
/r specifies a ROM image destination file the default is a File Store destination file.
/n disables bitmap compression.
/q specifies quiet mode - only errors are reported.
/hheader optionally specifies the automatic generation of a header file "header" for inclusion into code.
OPT may be one of /1, /2, /4, /8, /c4, /c8, /c12, /c16, /c24 specifying bits per pixel and grey-scale/colour, default is /2.
epocfile specifies the EPOC multi-bitmap file name.
bmp_n specifies the nth bitmap file name.
/u decompiles epocfile to bmp_1, ..., bmp_n
/v displays a summary of the bitmaps in epocfile otherwise bmp_1, ..., bmp_n are compiled to epocfile.
commandfile specifies a file containing the commandline with commands separated by spaces or newlines.
All of which is a bit of a mouthful! However, if you just want to convert from (say) Example1.bmp to a 4-greyscale MBM file called Example.mbm then you'd use the following:-
BMCONV Example1.mbm /2Example1.bmp (ore the other way around)
(note the lack of spaces between /2 and Example1.mbm)
Or from Example2.bmp to a 256 colour MBM file:-
BMCONV Example2.mbm /c8Example2.bmp
Or from an MBM file called Example3.mbm to an equivalent bitmap:-
BMCONV /u Example3.mbm Example3.bmp
Now that you can convert to and from BMP <> MBM files, it's an easy matter to use any one of the image manipulation/conversion programs available for the PC to lighten your original images, change the contrast, convert JPG/GIF to BMP, etc.
Another option is to use one or both of the two freeware programs, WinPic and XnView (links below) to do the conversions.
All programs are now on my site http://nokia9210.jellesma.com/mbm account=nokia9210 password=9210
Program XnView you can view MBM files on the PC and can convert to but only save to graycolor MBM image
