Reading number of unread sms

Hi, does anyone have any idea how to read the number of unread sms messages off a phone?

Im using vb5, fbus on a 6210 and DLR-3P cable.
Tried all the possibilities i could find in the gnokii protocol docs but none of them seem to work.

Well, if the posibilities in the gnokii protocol docs don't work you're quite out of luck.. you could try Gammu (although possibly the protocol docs are the same)
If you can't figure out the protocol yourself, try just borrowing the code in gammu that does this :-)

Thanks, though no luck with gammu either :(

Can get round it by searching through the inbox and reading each
message in turn. Its slower, but it works.

Hit more important problems anyway, changed the phone to a 6310i and
now it wont talk over fbus any more. grr.
Appears to need some init sent to it before fbus will work.
