Possible and Impossible Phone Converstions

Well, I'm kinda getting bored of repetitive can I convert my Nokia 3210 into a Nokia 3300 threads, so I was wondering if people could share their hardware/software conversion of phones?

THE CONVERSTION LIST BELOW IS IN PROGRESS AND MAY NOT BE ACCURATE AT ALL, DO NOT BUY OR CONVERT BECAUSE OF THIS THREAD!

Please correct or add to the following!:

Software:
3310-->3315
8210Rom5-->8890
8210Rom6-->8250
6110-->6150 (?Impossible?)
6210-->6250

Hardware:
3310-->3330 (New Flash IC and RAM IC)
3330-->3350 (New LCD and software)

Change LCD and flash new software (works vice versa)

Think the newer 3330's can be changed into 3410 with a new LCD and a flash (correct me if I am wrong).

Would be interested in 3510 into 3510i I tried changing the LCD and flashing, didn't work. Assume the 3510i has more memory as the 3510i flash pack includes a content pack (applications, games etc) where the 3510 does not.

That's as far as I go, I don't think (please correct me!) there are any other software modifications.

Since I do no hardware modifications, anyone fancy posting possible hardware mods?

E.g:

Hardware:
3310-->3350-->3410 (New Screen, PCB Required: Build xx!)

BUT HOW YOU CONVERT 6110 TO 6150? BECAUSE 6110 HAVE 1 MB FLASH AND 6150 HAVE THE DOUBLE FLASH MEMORY??

3310 cannot be converted into the 3350! The 3330 converts to the 3350 with an LCD and software change! The 8210 Rom6\8250 can also be changed into the 2100 with an LCD and software change! ;)

3510-->3510i is fairly impossible mate, considering you'd be changing almost all the components. It'd probably be cheaper to buy a new phone. There was a recent post about this in 3xxx forums if you want further reading on the topic. :)

then i still have some hope, i have been planning to buy 8210 but didn't know about rom5 (and most ones i have seen are rom5, not 6).

and for 3310->3330, there is at least hardware changes, new flash ic, new rom ic.

edit: impossible to convert 6110->6150 without changing flash ic.
i have tried 6110->6150, at least older dsp (3?) can't upgrade to 6150 because 6110 has 1MB flash and 6150 has 2MB.
6150 MCU only is over 1MB, so you have to cut lot of code out to fit into 6110.

Whoa liteFun, I haven't tested it myself, I'm getting a 8210rom5 in a few days, but I've only read it on the forum.

Perhaps it's best to read up more on it before you buy because I said so ;)

From what I read it's just a FuBu to the 8890, but you don't really get much doing it mate, take a look at http://www.nokia.com and look at the difference, not much really :)

You can convert 8210 and 8250 to 8850 as well as 8890. As with the 8890, not sure whether you'll gain anything apart from *#0000# showing up as an NSM-2 and the menu icons looking something remotely like an 8850 :D
ROM6 8850s can be converted to 8250s, however you will lose the active slide functionality.

Hardware conversions: It's possible to convert a ROM6 8210/8250/8850 into an 8855, but you need to change the IC to a 4MB one. It's been done before, not lost the tutorial... :(

Added, but look at Nokia.com, these all seem the same. Certainly hardware wise (The plastic case of the phone), they are very different, but internally, upgrading doesn't seem worth it.

seems that bob made a typo? should be new rom ic.
3310 has dsp rom 6, but this rom ic is mcu rom.
this "my" information is from older threads about 3310->3330 convert.
haven't tested, and maybe need something else to be replaced too, but only changing flash ic doesn't work.

and btw, this thread really is important.
i hope somebody could tell what imei-ranges has these 3330's that can be upgraded to 3350. still hunting for that 3330...

I got my 8210Rom5 :)

I just upgraded the firmware, and took a look invert screen etc...I see no point in upgrading to the 8890, but the 8210 is quite well researched...

Sorry, I don't know about the IMEI range mate :(, maybe you can make a post asking for IMEIs of those who have upgraded to the 3330 (Well, not the whole IMEI for security reasons)...

3310 has rom 6, so has 3330, and 3410.. (DSP firmware B60.6.756 -- ROM6)
So that isn't the problem, furthermore the ROM is integrated into the MAD so you can't replace it at all (!)
