IDENTIFYING NOKIA PHONE TYPES (DCT3 and DCT4)

NOTE: Information May NOT complete or accurate at this moment, pls. be patient

As of NOW the nokiafree.org database is experiencing technical problems, the posting of phone info. will be done every 2 days. Thank you for your patience.

IMPORTANT: There are website owners out there which are copying the information contained herein, (obviously they even forgot to remove some information linking to this site (nfree.org) and also forgot to remove the "p" thing on their list. Pls. give the name of site and poster which the information came from) and do NOT claim that it was your own hardwork of researching this information... (NOT TO MENTION CERTAIN WEBSITES, some even wrote on their page that "This is our hardwork of research, courtesy of "staff", they also wrote there that a member of a gsm forum is copying their work. (REALLY?) What A Claim?! . To web owners (you know who you are) doing thse kind of nice attitude this would be a better title: This is our hardwork of copying the work of others.

This thread will concentrate on Universal DCT3 and DCT4 Phones (Nokia Phones distributed and used worldwide), also Nokia phones with Symbian OS

This thread will show phone types classified under DCT3, DCT4 and Nokia Phones with Symbian OS . This will serve as a guide to phone users. Many users are mistakenly identifying some DCT3 phones to be DCT4 and vice versa, (eg. some users posted a problem about 3330 and identifying it as a DCT4 and a user posting a problem about 6310 and 8310 and identifying it as a DCT3), also Symbian phones that are identified as a DCT4 Phone. (Although their flashes are classified under DCT4)

Also, images of DCT3 and DCT4 phones are included on each and every post so users can see the phone's appearance. Also shown are the latest firmware of universal dct3 and dct4 phones on each post (will be available for download soon as long as nokiafree.org will fix it's database, because right now, uploading files is not yet possible - i still experience upload problems)

2110 - [NHE-1NX]

i don't think 2110 is a DCT4 phone.
in such case, where is 1610/1611, 2010 etc other models?
after 2110 came 3110, 8110 etc and if 2110 flash had DCT4 algorithm, why 6110 was dct3?
i think 2110 is DCT3 or "DCT2".
but i don't have a 2110 flash to check it out.

2110 may be DCT1 or DCT2, not sure on that, because the only DCT2 phones I know are 3110 and 8110, 8110i. It is definitely no DCT3 or DCT4.

9210, 9210i are not DCT4, but DCT-L (LINDA). Concerning code generation, they behave like DCT3 phones.

All new phones not on the list are DCT4
the last DCT3 ever made was the 2100 I think :)

yep and the first DCT3 made was the 6110, introduced in 1997 (i think, check Nokia's site and go to the timeline)

correct me if i'm wrong, but the DCT3 phones conform to a numbering scheme but nokia gradually went away from this numbering when the DCT4 series was introduced.

first number: which series (3xxx, 5xxx...)
second number: what revised model that was entered into the series (6110 vs 6210)
third number: network technology - gsm cdma tdma, or damps (like 5110/5120)
fourth number: version of the phone (like 3310/3315 etc)

this is usually the way the DCT3s are numbered (except the 2100).

I have also noticed alot of posts about difficulty unlocking these phones.
The *#06# code works for the IEMI number, but I had no luck getting a code to work to access the nam. In my research to unlock the phone, I was led to think it was a DCT4 phone. I was able to unlock it as a DCT4/ASIC2+DCT3/GD1with V2 codes. The second code worked. I have tried the typical program menu codes and tried to sub my provider numbers and reset security code as they might be used by different providers, all to no end.

If anyone has any other codes for this model, please let me know.

@mudy1

please place that question again but in DCT3 general section since i'll be deleting this one soon

anyway, you can know the rom version by reading phone with an MBUS cable and a Nokia Tool program. Don't ask for them, just make a search and you'll find it somewhere in the forum

If you have any suggestions, or have questions regarding this information, please do NOT reply to this thread, there is a FORUM thread built for this post at Nokia General Discussion the thread title is : "Identifying Phone Types FORUM", that is the thread where you can post all your suggestions, comments and questions regarding all the information placed here. (Posts will be highly appreciated) (I suggest having a new thread for the forum part inorder that this thread would NOT be messy. (I think that would be better)

I have an old Nokia phone, it's Nokia 3810.
To which category does it belong to? :-)
