ok, following various guidelines I have been given, I have purchased an MBUS cable for a 3410 (Serial 9 pin COM port on the other end) in an attempt to remove the SP locks from my 3410.
I've been trying to use the popular Rolis 1.8 Nokia Tool for this job. When trying to read on Windows XP it told me 'Failed to initialise Local Mode' and 'Check MBUS cable'. I then proceeded to try both COM ports and to check the connection between the cable and PCB on the phone. I tried every Windows operating system that I have (That means every OS from 3.11 upwards) and have had exactly the same problem.
I read in this forum of a Nokia 1.8B tool which might solve the problem, but any links given to this tool are now invalid.
I do wonder if userport can help me with this problem, but none of the current threads give complete instructions on how to use this as different people say different things.
Basically, What does this error mean and how to I make this damn thing work!?!
Rob
Oh, and on the Phone end of the MBUS cable there is a switch which can be set to 'F' or 'M'. Don't know if this helps.
