I found a GD87 about for months ago, handed it in to lost property and now they've said i can have it, but the whole phone is completely locked, is there any way I can unbar it so I can use it?

Just to clear up a few things. The handset may well be locked but that is only to a particular network and is the least of your problems.

The handset when reported lost by its previous owner would have been blacklisted on the CEIR. This is a huge database of IMEI's circulated between the networks here in the UK and to cut a long story short, if the IMEI of your phone is on that list you will not be able to use it on any of the UK networks.

Solutions, well there are a few.

* Contact the network the handset is on and try and get it removed from the blacklist.

* A change of IMEI would also solve the problem BUT this is ILLEGAL in the UK. It still goes on though and a look around this forum would point you in the right direction.

* Swap it with someone else in another country.

Personally I'd try the first one and see how you get on.

Hope this helps
