First of all thank you for offering free advice :)

I have had so many people bring in 3310's which get signal for about 10 seconds, and then lose it completely. I've tried cleaning them, air brushing them, alcohol pads, contact tests, software upgrade/downgrade, imei change, network unlocking.. Believe me, everything! Except: I have no experience whatsoever when it comes to the actual components of the phones.

I've downloaded and tried to comprehend the service manuals but they really end up being to complex and too hard to understand in the end.

I was hoping you could somehow explain what is wrong. I've heard talk of certain RF components, and that's all nice and dandy to say replace this piece and that piece.. but I have NO idea where to buy these sorts of components from, nor do I have any experience whatsoever installing them. So if you have any theories as to why these 3310's decide not to achieve full signal for more than 10 seconds, please let me know :)

yeah i have seen alot of these also. basically it comes down to fautly components. these being the power amplifier and the diplexor or antenna switch as it is also known. once these components are replaced everthing is fine. as for getting these components i never had to buy them cause the sevice center always has an abundance of them, but i have seen that "KID" sells them so you might want to drop him a line about that. As also for replacing them i will write you a step by step giude if you want :)

hallo wfc!

I have the same problem. My 3310 get signal only for 10s after power on. I had enabe netmonitor a there was found 7 bts and signal intesity are the same as good 3310. I think so it only receive signal from bts but no transfer.
Can you explain me how to desoldering and things about it

hi ,it is good to see some1 offering to help ppls.i am faceing probloms with bga soldring and de soldring,in 3310 signal problem,after changing pa,anteena sw,c105 there is one thing left ''coba''.i had successfuly changed pa and other components but coba and ccont, alwayes get trouble,often balls r [solder]dameged on m board,how to make new balls...i managed to do some work with oridinary solder and iorn[i do have hot air 850 re work station]these balls made with soldering iron,r too small and coba ic does not connects to board properly,now i have a bga kit ,but i am failed to make balls on ic,perhapes the liquid solder is too thick....please guide me how to reball properly.

I HAVE MY OWN SERVICE CENTRE (NON AUTHORISED) & OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IS SIGNAL FAULTS. WE HAVE PARTS IN STOCK & WE HAVE HOT BLOWERS. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH SIGNAL FAULTS IS AFTER WE BLOW VARIOUS PARTS OF BOARD SOMETIMES SIGNAL FAULT RETURNS. CAN YOU ADVISE ME ON HOW TO REPLACE ANTENNA SWITCH & P.A. ALSO IS THE ANTENNA SWITCH & DIPLEXOR THE SAME THING?

i have this 8210, that is loosing signal. Netmonitor says NPFS? and SEAR, and sometimes the signal is back (CCCH).

Can anyone with the expirience and knowlengde make a tutorial for this 8210 and 3310 problem?

if it brought off the self, should ok. use a NT-cutter blade to spread it over the template 2-3 time like spreading butter over bread.

take note the there must be no gap between the ic and template. secure it tightly before spreading the pasta.

use the correct adptor for that ic with the rework station.

left about 2-3mm gap btw the ic and hot air, move it around often and check tha the ball are forming. if not increase temp.

as a guide temp about 350-400C, airflow about 3-5

i've got a problem with 5510...
when i was recording a song i received an sms an when i tried to read it the phone blocked and then powered off...
now each time i try to power it on it only stays on for a few seconds
it's not battery problem...

also are genuine uif's available, most non-genuine ones seem to have a few problems.

Without any test equipment:

Basically start with antenna and work your way down the signal path:

1) Try new antenna (most common cause of T28 low signal)

2) Open phone and clean antenna contact. Do not push too hard down on the spring when doing this.

3) Measure resistance across the antenna contact

antenna contact-> o=O- <- measurement point

Take the measurement from the antenna contact to the small solder at the opposite end of the assembley. If it is NOT 0 ohms, the assy must be changed.

4) Assemble and retest phone. Still faulty then continue:

5) Remove the keypad contact sheet to prevent heat damage. Reflow the diplexer (antenna switch), and reflow the PA (heat with hot air gun while pushing gentley on the top, until small solder balls are squeezed out the sides. Remove heat but continue to hold down until solder has become solid again).

Carefully remove excess solder balls around PA. Allow board to cool.

Reassemble and test phone. If there is any change (good or bad) in siganl and you are sure your workmanship is OK, try changing your diplexer (if you can get cheap stock, good idea to change anyway). Then if still same change PA.

If everything is still the same, reflow all the uBGA's (except one that are glued to the board).

If still faulty, i don't think you will learn how to it fix from text...

i need help. soldering the led is easy. but when i desoldering the lights, especially the keypads, the contacts sometimes falls off. Is there a way to avoid this or tips on how to remove the led without breaking away the contacts. And is there way to fix this problems also. I mess up two phones already because of this. Please give me some tips.

make sure ya soldering tips are at the right temperature...not too hot nor too cold...must be just right. the best is...u can use soldering iron with 22W... i am using SMD soldering station/blower...its fast and easy. :)

I have probem on 3210 flashing:

1. When I want to flash it using Rolis 4.77 or 4.78b6, it says-- "battery voltage is too low"... I've already clean the contact

i keep getting a error when trying to start up Eeprom tools on my pc the error is "Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependancies, not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
please can some one help me because i need to use this program asap or have you got any software that will work on windows xp to unlock nokia's

i dont run XP myself but i think rolis will work. but what i would try and do first is download that file and reinstall in into windows system.

many prgrams dnt wrk with xp at first, just do the compatibilty and dey uslau start to wrk, as for flashing programs, u need this orgram, forgot whats its called which aloows the program to wrk after.....

hi, actually what i wanted is to convert my 8210 (rom6) into 8855. i got the flash ic as demanded. but 1 prob i had is to remove the sealed cpu and bridge wire and then replace it. but in posts to 8210 to 8855 they also mentioned that it can be done without removing the cpu also. but it goes like this

"NOTICE: If your cpu is V16, you needn't remove it: from CPU No.1 point. (It's one the cpu's left, the sinus point), Now winddershins.. No.17 is G2, you can bridge it to A3. "

now thats what the prob is. i am not able to understand the last 2 lines. that is
#1. sinus point ???

for the3310 that fell.......

changing of components should be a last resort.......hook it up to a power supply and check the current drain...
try gently reflowing the board.......
check your clk frequency while it has power to it:)

try reflowing the charging cct, there are a few transient surpressors in line ant two dual FET switches. you can test these components to see if they are faulty. those high value capacitors have a nasty habit of shorting intermittently.
let me know how it goes..

hi you have a broken conection betwen mic and pcb. take apart
the door of t28 use a knife and look for
smal smd components on the wire.
if thats not the problem than chec conector.
use a ohm meter to check it.
be careful to get the door away from the phone.
there is a conector on left side.

I have XP - and I've tried Rolis Flasher 478b6 and several other programs with my flasher cable. Have problems with MBUS as well.
Have tried on 5110, 3210, 8210 - but none of them works.
Possible solutions???
Logomanager works on FBUS sometimes, on MBUS perfect.
Datasuite 3.0 does not work!

XP is making me mad!¨

It was really very encouraging to find a this thread.
Please provide an answer to my problem if possible.

I have a NOKIA 3310 and a flasher cable for the same.I am using Windows 2000 with LPT1 port in ECP mode.
I have also installed USER PORT as most flashing softwares don't run on win2K without installing it .
Now as soon as I connect my cable to the PC(WITHOUT EVEN CONNECTING IT TO THE PHONE ) and run Rolis 4.77/4.78/4.79 , I get an error message :

Power off Mobile first and then reconnect
(Or check cable : phone Tx = low(0) expected but phone TX=high read)

I have also tried Knok95 which gives an error that it could not connect to the phone.

Please tell me what can be done .I have purchased a new flasher cable and there are no chances it's damaged.

Hi i just get a 6210 which is not power on. I thought first time maybe it has wrong flash so i started to flash it. Flash was not avalaible, becaude the phone not respond. Rolis flasher not recognized the phone, only once. It gave me an error i think: "boot buffer is too less" or something like that. I checked the phone inside maybe its dirty but i found nothing...

I think it might be hardware problem, but dunno where should i start to check... (I only now Nokias @ software part..)

(Im using win98 rolis 4.77, so operation system has no problem... Phone must be bad)

Any advise where shold i check the phone? (Like in bad time-> check crystal)

5210 phone lights up and vibrates as soon as the battery is put in there is no writing displayed on the screen and the phone does not stop vibrateing

I bought a Samsung V205 for my wife, and she travel overseas to visit here family, So I tried to unlock the phone by flashing it, I followed the instruction provided in the forum and every thing was working fine until the last step "click the flash button then the application start flashing but after it reached the 3% it stopped with error message " Sorry many retries" after that I tried to turn on the phone or try the procedure again, but with no luck.
and now the phone is dead, it does not power up again.

I really need your advice.

I bought a Samsung V205 for my wife, and she travel overseas to visit here family, So I tried to unlock the phone by flashing it, I followed the instruction provided in the forum and every thing was working fine until the last step "click the flash button then the application start flashing but after it reached the 3% it stopped with error message " Sorry many retries" after that I tried to turn on the phone or try the procedure again, but with no luck.
and now the phone is dead, it does not power up again.

I really need your advice.

Just flash your phone again, check the connection between the cable and phone or you can hold the cable when flashing

I have been looking for a diagram for a Flash Cable for a Nokia 8310.
I habe found diagrams but none actually say they are for an 8310.
Also need to know the pinouts on the phone.

Also what is the best flash program to use for doing this.

Reason I am flashing phone is because Oxygen Phone Manager killed it. The thing wont even turn on. Am I taking the right course of action ????

Or is there a way to just short out the phone to reset it ???

I thing you batter clean PCB with alcohol hope to solve can?t switch off problem.
Display light up & nothing to see. Most of time display is faulty pleases check with other display if you can.

is there any way of running userport.exe on startup of win XP? i'm thinking along the line of c:\userport\userport.exe \run or something similar, basicly i just want userport to run and become active as windows boots, its just one less thing to think about when your laptop battery is kak.

I have already placed it in the startup folder in XP, that seems to work but the window stays active, any ideas?

when you press the "Start" button in program, it loads userport.sys into memory. it stays there until you press the "Stop" button. whenever you restart windows the driver is always loaded. even if you delete the program, it will still be loaded.

hi ppls, i have noticed that signals droping problems in 3310-3330 does not solved by replacing or disturbing all rf related parts some times[often] phone get killed.
1=when u turn on phone ,it scans for system,after reading system phone will transmit to get registered,if u see the signals and after 10 sec it drops and never come again unles powered of then it is the''coba'' ic.replacing coba will solve problem.
2=when u see signals droping and again full bar or signals r present but cannot make a call, it is pa [power amp].
3=when the signal strenght is full [out door] and drops 1 or 2 points in indoor or covered area,then it is anteena switch[diplexer] these r my personl observations if i am wrong plz correct me.

Mate unfortunately you are wrong on point 3,but both right and wrong on the other two.Rarely do you replace the cobba on a 3310[sometimes the capacitor feeding the pa]but mainly the pa or diplexor needs a reflow or replace.Point two seems ok,but has known to be the cobba on a number of other probs[ie update faid]Still your points get people thinking about other ways to solve these dramas :-P

:sad: I daflty tried to clean my 8310 with baby wipes and then my keys stoped working. A friend advised me on buying a Torx 6 and metholated spirit and use it to gently clean the PCB where the gold bits were dirty looking from the residue form the baby wipes.

Anyway - my phone is now sparkly clean but still the keys won't work, when I put my sim card in the jingle plays and asks me to enter the time and date - but to no luck.

Sorry if water damage fixes have been covered already but I don't know what to do - could I just buy a new screen/keypad of Ebay for £10 and replace it ?

Clean the whole pcb with PURE alcohol,not metho!, and see what happens.The little block on th pcb with the pins on them is what sends signals to the lcd,so clean both the pin section and the contact on the back of the lcd THOROUGHLY.If that does not work ,and the pcb has been cleaned thoroughly with alcohol as well,then change z301 8-)

99% of siemens gets ready if u change the pa or pf 08103 its that problem confirmed if u get a exclamation mark (!) before your mcc + mnc code

Thank you for offering your help. I have a Nokia 6600, the current software version was 3.49.1, i tried upgrading it to 4.09.1. After the flash procedure, the phone went into "Phone start up failed, contact the retailer". Could you please give me any ideas as to how i could get it out of that? Iv tried reflashing as well, downgrading, no luck.

For one thing signal dropping is cause by failure of some rf component unfortunately identifying which one is the most difficult to find if you dont have test instrument to measure rf parameters-Blind troubleshooting.let me share my experience in repairing,try first to request for the presence of your network operator by going to SETTING MENU,NETWORK SELECTION and set to MANUAL mode for request once a list of operator appears then request.say if your phone has x-network and you select it to the list of operator being display,after the request and your phone replied a message of NO ACCESS. then your PA must be replace.
(1)no its not cobba,cobba or audio ic is just one of the device that handles or process rf signal.
(2)when you have defective PA the signal wont up and down-it will simply display no signal.When signal dropping is often defitenitely you cant make a call-try to replace the 32khz crystal oscillator of the ccont and c201.this is proven 100%.
(3) It simply means that rf signals is attenuated on enclosed area.again signal strenght varies and control by cellsites its natural to drop 1 to 2 bar,totally gone in outdoor is abnormal , according to location if you are in basement surounded by concrete pavement then you wont receive signal at all. :smile:

What paygee means about signlas dropping indoors is as compared to other working phones, same model in the same room. Perhaps u've not seen this, but i've come accross this. What do u say is the fault in this case if not antenna switch?

I've a Nokia 3200 where the imei show ??????????????. Then i change UEM and Flash IC and programme the phone with Tornado software but while programming it stop at Content file. Then i try to programme again, it show flash id error. I've try with Griffin Box and it happen the same thing ; stop at Content file but without showing flash id error. Hi WFC,
I need some advice on a SE T610 repair if possible, it has been run over by a car!!
The LCD is smashed and it won’t power-up. I have taken it apart and cannot see any physical damage to the PCB. I've used a lamp\magnifier and cannot see any components missing or with legs\pads lifted etc. I know there are several BGA package devices which could be damaged. Do these handsets usually power-up with the LCD damaged\removed? I took the LCD out completely but it's still dead!! The only life I can see is a small red LED above the joystick flicker when the battery is connected\removed. Any help greatly appreciated.

Could you please advise me as my son has gone and blocked the sim on his philips 535.

He has phoned up O2 and got an unblocking code (8 digits), but when I go into the security settings to put the code in the only icon there is "keypad lock".

Does anybody have any suggestion, or is it got to be a new phone?

@whytekj,

Keypad lock is to prevent accidental calling when keys get pressed accidentally. U can remove it easily. just refer to phone's manual. Then u have to enter the 8 digit code n unblock the card. It'll then ask u for a new "PIN" code. Enter any 4 digit number. U have to do it twice. Make sure u don't forget the new PIN code. Good luck!

I just read what u typed properly. The code given to u is not to be entered in the security settings. When u insert the card in ur phone and power it on, it should ask u for a code. If its PIN u should enter pin code. If its asking for PUK its the 8 digit code given to u. Also try calling O2 customer support for more help if needed. No need to panic. Good luck!

Please people could you help me.

I damaged the ribbon on my 7650, so i got a new one and thought it would be a simple replacement, (boy was i wrong). I bought a ribbon that has silver tips (contacts) at the end that connects to the pcb (was told no soldering required) yet i'm baffuled on how to connect the ribbon to the pcb.

The silver tips part on the ribbon dosen't look like solder, because when i use the air gun it dosen't melt and the hotter i make the air gun the more the ribbon burn and turns black (dont wory not using the same ribbon)

tried using the tip of the soldering iron and placed it on the back of the ribbon but yet no luck.

Also tried applying some solder resin to the pcb the contacts, that attach to the ribbon and then tried to heat it on to the ribbon (but it melts and the contacts touch).

Please people need some advice, what do i do (i know the phone works beacuse when i hold the ribbon down in place with my fingers its switches on).

Hi, u need knowledge of electronics if u really want to be good in repairs. I suggest u do a course in this at some institute near u that is good. Then u could do a course with an institute teaching mobile repairs. I have heard that Britco is good. U can also check out this site if u wish to do a course: www.mobilenu.com. Hey trion, good 2 c sum1 helpin out, thanks a lot.

iv got a 7600 that im havin problems with. wen i take pictures or video's it doesnt save in the appropriate folder. eg, if i take a picture, it tells me after takin the pic, that its saving in the "images" folder. if i check the images folder there's nothin there.however, if i check the phones memory, the amount that's bein used has gone up. so i know its saved it somewhere, but not where its supposed to, and somewhere i cant get to it. same thing happens with video's and recordings.

theres not much wrong with the folders themselves as far as i can see. ive connected the fone to my pc using nokia pc suite and imported pics into the images folder, and i check the fone and the pic is there.

got any suggestions? id appreciate it if u cud help. let me know if u need further explanation or details on it, cos i dont think ive explained it too well.

My girlfriend has a Siemen C55, she activated the phone's locker and she forgot the code,she tried to write it down but now is locked, so the only sim card she can use is hers, how can I solve this problem without a Data Cable?

second one is I do have a Sim card locked, I need the puk code and I dont have it, what can I do?

I have had so many people bring in Siemens A35 which get signal Very low and then lose it completely. I've tried cleaning them, alcohol pads, contact tests, software imei change, network unlocking.. Still No signel

I was hoping you could somehow explain what is wrong. Please help me

I have fixed more than 30 of these phones.Check that the antenna is making proper contact.If this does not help,change your P.A.But don't use the 8112b use 8109b same as nokia 3310 which is much stronger works 100%

I have a LG7050 phone which is stuffed. One day i installed some java games on it and then about an hour later when i tried to play one the whole phone just froze and i had to replace the battery. After that it would just display a white screen and do absolutely nothing. I flashed it acouple of times thinking the game had corrupted the firmware but it made no difference. About a day after that the screen stopped turning on and now the only thing that works is the charge light, but this turns on whether battery is in or not. I have also washed it using the chunkhead method a couple of times but to no avail. Anyone have any solutions of what i can do? :-?

I have nokia 3310 (sw: v05.57 NHM-5) it forks fine with 32k sim card, but when I put new sim card 64k (same network) and turn on phone display start to flash on-off-on-..

What is the problem? Software or nokia 3310 culdn't accept 64k sim card or something else?

I have a nokia 5510, the microphone cant functioned but its ok(800kOhm) after using my nokia as flash disk to store files, it cant be accessed through usb to my pc (my pc win xp p4 3.0 ghz, cant detect the phone)
after that, my speaker cant output any thing, but after i enter the code for activating Enhanced Full voice rate, it goes normal but the microphone still l dead.
i heard thet nokia 5510 flash ext ui board can reformat the flash, is it true? and do you have any suggestion?
btw, i dont have the software (flash ext ui v2.0) do you know where to download it\

Hi :P, I desperately need your help! I have a brand new Nokia 3390b, didn't have it a mo. and turned it on one day and it said "contact service" that's all I can get it to do! I called Nokia and did a walk thru taking the battery out and replacing it, did the sims card thing, etc., etc., Then they told me it was a defective phone and wanted me to mail it in. Well, it has been sitting in the box for about 4 mos. now. Can you help me? I'll dance at your wedding.... :lol:

Can anyone help me with the following - I have a 6820 from the US but am using it in Ireland where the carrier is GSM 900\1800. As far as I know the phone is tri-band and operates at 950\1800\1900.

The phone works in the city (although the signal strength changes very regulary even when the phone is not moved).. but when I move to rural area there is no signal at all.

A repair shop suggested that the phone is only working on the 1800 band (common to both the phone and my carrier) and it can't swap over to other band when needed.

Can this be changed using software - or is it a hardware problem?
As you can see I'm a bit clueless. :???:

I unlocked my 6800 recently. But now I am in an area that doesn't get reception at many spots. Is there a way to do something to the phone so I can get reception from the carrier inthat area? I asked a rep from a cell phone store and he said yes there is. It's another unlock code available to get the carrier signal.

I just bought a 6682 upgrading from the 6230 and 6560.

I couple of questions. Any way to use my old carkit with the 6682. When I switched from the 6560 to the 6230 it worked okay. The 6682 has the same plug. Please advise.

I guess there is a problem with the SIM. It could be that you need another code (due to the fact that maybe the phone has multiple locks). But, since the phone is trying to register the sim with the network, I think the problem is with the sim.

Have you tried the SIM in another phone?

ok... first of all your 6680 probably just has a dirty system connector... or perhaps there is some liquid damage. you need to open the phone and clean the rear of the system connector, make sure the pins and the board are nice and clean, you have to use a stiff brush and some alcohol...

your 6310i needs a little more detail... what EXACTLY is it doing? is it getting no signal whatsoever or is it getting a signel then losing it when you try to make a call??

post back and we can more accuratly diagnose whats wrong

hi,

i have a hardware device that converts text to braille vibrations that can be felt on the vibrators present in the device. A C code is wriiten to do this. I use the printer port to interface the computer and the harware device.

The text is fed as a .txt file. I want to now achive this conversion for the SMS of a nokia 6610 phone. I want to use the data cable and read the SMS from it and then feed it into the device.

i want to know the pin configuration of the data cable and also wht program or hardware i can use to get the SMS and convert it to braille vibrations.

What should i do?.. are there any links for the data cable pin configurations?

Because,
I share some photose via BlueTooth with my friend ( at that moment i dident install any virus guards ). Then next time i try to turn on phone, when i hit the power button, normally its on but after nokia logon video played its automaticaly shut down. Now im really pissed off can some one help me please???

Hi all, I have a nokia 6230 9found it in a field) with no sim in it, I think there are bits missing from behind the back cover (see pic below), can anyone tell me what is missing ?
Also, when the phone switches on it all come up OK but there is no network coverage (sims are accepted OK), could this be blocked or due to bits missing ?

Hi,

I just have installed Nokia Software Updater for N80 Internet Edition.

I followed the instructions, The firmware version of my N80 were going to change from 4.0632.0.38 to 5.0719.0.2.

Almost at the end of the process, I had to take out the battery, then disconnect the usb cable, after that put the battery, turn on the phone and connect the usb cable.....

But, at this time.... the phone didn´t start up....

I am really worry because even though I tried to charge the battery, the phone doesn´t turn on any led.... I´s now a dead phone....

Please help me with some advices.....
