Hi y'all was just wondering if anyone could help me. Well the thing is my brother bought a 3410 this year and after about 2 months later the fone just displayed "Contact Service". We decided to take it to the shop for service. Later on he was told it was water damaged and couldn't be repaired. Is this true :-?

Forgive me for the long post, am a newbie.

Probably true, there are some sonic machines that sometimes does the job, but firstly they're expensive (£300+) and secondly, if you try get someone else to do it they'll probably charge you a ton as well.

Suppose the only thing you could really do is sell it on Ebay as spares...

Might be, but most C/S fault can be fixed by a clean and reheat of the board and sometimes a software update, best thing to do is send it someone to have a look at and see what the problem is.

The water damage method should fix this! There is also a "Contact Service" guide! Since the Forum FAQ is experiencing difficulties since the move, the tutorials can be found here: http://nokiafree.org/forums/t31337/s.html
