First of all i wanted to know if you have tried to reinstall pc suite cause if the cable connects sometimes there might be a software conflict rather than a broken cable. (For example the connection always breaks if you open a browser after connecting)

If you want something new anyway i would prefer another cable but i must admit i have a mmc reader, too. Infrared however is the slowest of all connection type. It only makes sense if you have it already built in (like notebook). There are conflicts with some xp systems also.

Cable connection is faster than infrared but very slow compared to a cardreader. It gives a solid connection and you donīt have to take out the mmc everytime you install somesthing. I think taking out the card too often may damage card and phone.
On the other hand it is possible to defrag your mmc by using a cardreader!

third one....had a solid connection...but was able to check it out for only a short period.
this cable is a cheap one....do u advise i get the original one?...or a compactflash reader?

Basically a usb mmc reader is the FASTEST way of installing software, and like smart said you can defrag the mmc aswell.

but

You won't be able to connect to the data suite using the mmc. To connect to the data suite you will need either an infrared connection or a cable connection. I advise you to buy an original nokia dlr-2l cable. Don't bother with cheap clones.

I would advise you to get both personally. But if you cant afford both get the cable first then the mmc reader. :-)

You can do more with the cable than with the mmc, with cable you use data suite, install software, use windows explorer to browse the commy, whereas with the mmc all you can do is browse the mmc, copy software to the mmc quicker and defrag it.
