Hi all brothers, i m a dummy and i am new. I just know that my phone is 8210 rom 5. But refer to the forum, I can only found that 8210 rom 5 can upgrade to 8890. Currently my phone is running a V5.60 software with 36 original tones and 10 additional tones. The phone's function is exactly same with original 8210. Just wish somebody can tell me how to upgrade it to 8890 and what things do i need and where to get it. Thanks.

8210 rom5 can be upgrade to 8890.
you can try to find 8890 v12.20 in nokiafree download section or from this add for sure http://members.v3space.com/napalm/mcu-ppm-index.htm.

i think you can upgrade 8210 to 8890,is same like the way you upgrade your 8210 flash & 8210 to 8250.
i not try it before,i not sure, so good to you.

Brother... i will try your suggestion later and will post u the results. anyway, is that other way to add the mcu ppm and eeprom together to be a full flash file? or what if i just flash the 8890 mcu files to my current 8210? and don't border about the ppm and eeprom. Best regard... Andy

you can just flash the 8890 mcu and 8890ppm into the phone.
you can join the mcu & ppm before you flash or but not joining them also can.

I've done it lots of times before. 8210 - 8890 is not all that great but I guess it's worth a try. 8890 v.12.20 is more of a business software. It will allow you to store 1 email address per name in your address book. V12.20 allows only 5 voice dialed numbers and adds an "email option to your message menu. That's it pretty much. Give it a try! Good luck and have fun man!

Could it be possible that the 8890 flash on a 8210 doesn't work on 900/1800 Mhz networks?

I succesfully flashed the 8890 flash to my phone calculated faid n stuff. The phone worked fine (no rebooting), except i don't get a signal :(.

it work, I have flash 8890 to a 8210 rom6, and it work perfectly, but only GSM900 no GSM1800 i think, because i can get signal with GSM900 provider didn't try GSM1800 yet and now i want to find the 8890 chinese pack, does anyone know whether can i find a 8890 chinese pack, or does it exist?

Thanks you.

From what i see on nokia's website, the 8890 doesnt support gsm1800 - only 900/1900. So probably the 8210 software is not going to allow 1800mhz sims to work.

Has anyone tried using an 1800 network to prove this?

you have to have your phone connected with the data cable for starters.
then turn your phone completly on. then open logo manager and it should say your service provider in the bottom ... left.. (from memory) corner.
then you will be able to send your logo.
:)
