Hi everybody,
Iīve heard about, that you may be able to use your mobile as an internet modem for connecting to the internet on a laptop for example!!

Who knows more about it, and even better has useful links to setup virtual-mobil-modems on an laptop with all the drivers (.inf-files) needed??!!

Hope you guys can help me...
I always wanted to try it during vacation, although itīs quite expensive....

Anyways, I know that it is possible (with m/f bus cable) but donīt have good information about it...but I am quite sure you guys may help me with this one, too!!

Thanx in advance!!

Greetingz

Hi M8

Yes it is possible and i have been using my Nokia 7110 to do this for a long time but i have been using a IR adapter i know it is possible with other phones Siemens using just a data cable the files you need to do this are usualy located on the website for the Phone you are trying to use i downloaded all mine from nokia.

Tell me which phone you would like to use and maybe i could send you instructions on how to set it up.

Hi m8,
thanx for the fast reply.

Yes, thatīll be great if you could help me...

1. Iīd like to hook up my nokia 3310 with a laptop

2. Iīd like to hook up my parentsīsiemens c35

Maybe you know how to connect both of them, using them as internet-modems.

thanx again

you can use all nokias with infrared or 5110 style connection on the bottom

6210 are better for use as modems, as with HSDSC, you can get 28.8k speeds

14.4k with 7110

9.6k for 5110, 5130,6110,6130,6150

I think 82xx can be used with infrared

get nokia datasuite 3.1 for 51xx/61xx

get nokia pc suite for 7110 for 7110
get nokia pc suite for 6210 for 6210

from the nokia website for your phone

http://www.nokia.com/phone/6210
http://www.nokia.com/phone/7110

etc

nokia datasuite, you must find warez if you cant buy

51xx/61xx use MBUS cable to connect
7110 and 6210 need a DLR-3 cable

3310 = no way, has no modem. You could use it analogue, matrix style with a handsfree connected up, but you wouldn't even get 9.6kbps*

C35 = also no way, as it has no modem for data transmission, the wap modem will not work this way

NCDS3 is available from www.kurtsmith.co.uk

* In more detail (requested by liam). You use your modem in laptop/pc, and make a cable that goes from the H/F (or speaker + mic) to the modem. You then set the connection to operator assisted dial. Dial the number on the phone, then click connect on the pc. It will then work

feck knows, you'd just want the end of h/f that goes talk, and the other one that goes listen, both connected to a phone lead somehow

Look in a phone wiring diagram or something

Sorry, that was total crap

You want the 3310 to go to your modem. So the RJ-45? jack needs to be where the mic and earpiece would be.

I'm pretty sure I rember there was a .ini file to setup a siemens c35i as a modem to your pc. Only I can't find it anywhere on either my pc or on siemens website. Maybe anyone else has it?

hmm.. 3330 and 5510 (with wap) has a modem?
so i could use as 14400bps with fbus & datasuite..
not even tried..
better go 1km from my home to parents' house and use their 11Mbps wlan.. :)

lol i want wi-fi :(

I think the 5510 modem is in software so it won't work as hardware

3310

PC Modem connector -----------> HF Port on phone

If your modem is twisted pair, there are only two wires, so it should be easy to wire up (i don't know)

When you set it up, you then choose operator assisted dial on dial up networking, then call the number on your mob, then press connect on the laptop

6150 and mbus should be ok.
i used 6110 with nokia datasuite 2 virtual com-port.
maybe you have to buy (or get somewhere) ncds2 if you don't have it.

NCDS2 = Nokia Cellular Data Suite 2
don't know if there is 4.xx version.. 3.xx is for sure, supports newer phones.
