3650 vs. 7650

I've had my 3650 for few weeks now and im thoroughly enjoying it, but in thumbing through these forums ive seen alot of talk about the 7650...im aware these both run Symbian OS and have many similarities and was wondering what differences there are between the two phones? Besides the obvious design/casing of course. And also, the keypad on the 7650, do you like hit a button and it shoots down, kinda like the phone in the matrix? or what?? So yeah, all you 7650 owners, its your time to shine!

No ,no, nothing shoots around. The only phone i know that shoots the flip out by just hittin a button is the nokia 7110
(i had one couple of years ago) but the flip of the 7650 is much too heavy and large to be shooten out.(it contains the keypad, the 7110 not). Well the major difference between 7650 and 3650 are that the 3650 has an MMC slot and thats the great advantage.
Both phones have the SymbianOS/Series60 User interface (they are exactly the same, so all 7650 apps will run on 3650 and vice-versa) and both are shipped with an internal 4mb user mem (at least i think so). With the 7650 you nearly don't have a chance to add memory except of changing the flash chip, but thats expensive (flasher hardware),
in most countries its illegal and of course you need proffesional skills to change the chip without killin your phone. But with the 3650 you just buy an MMC card for 40 or 50 € and you have 128mb space. Beside that i don't know any major differences, except that a video capture software is pre-installed to the 3650 (i think so).

Beside the Looks and keypad configuration ... well you have to open both phones to see the difference... when you check and look at the internal parts of the 7650 VS the 3650 you will see that there is alot of difference in the IC's attached to the phones... this is mainly the big change in the quality and the reliabilty of the phones... although both phones work using the same OS this doesn't mean that they are the same.. remember their just like PC's that run in windows OS but hardware is very different depending on the brand of PC. and performance mainly comes with hardware.... This is also one reason why the value on both units differ... as seen the 7650 is more expensive than that of the 3650 although already in the market for a long time.. If you check every component you will see that there are more IC's on the 7650 than in the 3650 ... most of this were removed and encorporated on a single chip.. If you see in some forums that the 3650 breakdown alot than the 7650.. well it speaks for itself.. .. even in the materials used on both phone differ..... as seen on the 3650 the molding plastic is somewhat of differen't... Its up to you to see which phone is better... remember nokia makes quality phones... and its quality comes with the series.. the higher the better the class the better the quality

I think that the 3650 is better. Its newer with better functions and I think is more stable. As for the price 2 versions of the 3650 where in the market before the official release by nokia ,these versions are cheaper than the 7650. However the official version is more expensive and more stable.

I think it's a no contest. The Nokia 3650 has a better value overall in every category (except for the keypad which you must invest in some time getting used to, and the design if you're more of a business looking type of person), and slams down the Nokia 7650 with its MMC capabilities.

It's a mystery why people will choose a "4MB 7650" compared to a "4MB + 16MB + xxxMB 3650", especially with all the things you can install on a S60 phone today.

Things will get interesting when the Nokia 6600 comes out, and even better when the price of the phone comes down to say, on a par with the current prices of the 7650 and the 3650.

I agree with you Dark Throne......
i love my 3650 so much (its on nearly a level par with my girlfriend :lol: ) But deep down there is this little urge to have a play with a 7650 :lol: , because i dont know anyone that has one. I would think it would be difficult with the 4mb memory of the 7650, however 7650 owners have there ways around it i guess... zipman and reducin the size of wav files ect. But once again i like my 3650 especially that i can have around 25 mp3's and still have room for vids, pics and ringtones apps ect with a 128mb, than can be doubled again.

It will be very interesting when the 6600 comes out. The first few days it does i think the whole forum will be full of 6600 threads....

I have owned both and although the 7650 is looks more sturdy and proffessional looking the memory limitations and the poor design quality of the casing let it down. I forget how many times i had to go to the nokia service centre to get the dust removed from the screen (about 4x), fix the keypad (3x), fix the on/off button (2 maybe 3x) and fix the joystick (2x).
The 3650 seems to have a few more problems with software but i put that down to the fact that on my 7650 i had about 2mb of installed apps and games and now i have about 15mb on my 3650.

I own both phones if it comes to applications the 3650 is the best but if it comes to the phone itself FUC* 3650, 7650 is better it has:

1) WAAAAy better screen ( 3650 have distorted colors )
2) Cooler look
3) Good durability
4) Elite Finnishing ( unlike the cheap plastic of 3650 )
5) Better Keypad
6) Infra red postion is much better than the side one
7) Battery and sim in different positions, easier for flight mode operation
8) Light sensor for consuming battery power
9) Proximity sensor
10) Operating system ( 3650 always hangs and crashes unlike 7650 )

Drawbacks are : MMC and Audio Bluetooth

PS in my household there r 2 7650s and 2 3650s, both 3650 have the same errors, but in 7650 it is kinda wierd since I bought em 6 months apart The IR port is different, one is shiny red and the other is Matt Black, olso the finnishing of the older one is slighty better.



So I am deeply waiting for 6600, and I really hope Nokia wont use that damn plastic on it, they allways spoil every phone with one annoying thing, well no phone is perfect with Nokia.

nokia it seems like to make alot of money, im sure the technology was out there to make a 7650 with a mmc card slot in the first place (we had the siemens sl45 with mmc way b4 the 7650).

I owned a 7650 but got fed up with the memory issue, there are soo many good games and apps just not enough space :(

Bought a 3650, very VERY VERY happy with the memory but i do miss the keypad as i am not use to this new design.

As for the 6600, i think its another one of nokias money making ideas, i think ill stick with the 3650 and maybe in a year or two time change to 6600, see whats happens i guess.

Overall 3650 is a better phone, a little more bigger and strange keypad but when it comes down to it the memory is the most important thing.

Oi oi oi oi ! I totally agree with you ceanth,
these days - 3650 is the best phone. There are thousands of apps and games for Symbian OS 6.0 and can you imagine ?!? 7650 owners are unable to upload the most usefull cus of the fact - just only 4MB memory :( how pathetic it is :( As you can see from my sig - I adore my 3650 - fantastic phone !!!
