Introduction

From the field we have received several complaints about the painting quality of the Power Key and Nokia Logo on the A-cover frame. The printings are in some cases very easy to peel of and may also disappear during normal use. Root cause of the problem is that printing on a painted surface is not robust enough.

A new painting process has been implemented at the vendor, which solves the problem. The Nokia Logo and power symbol is now printed between the topcoat and basecoat for both the A-Cover and Power Key.

However the Nokia Logo on the A-Cover window frame will be changed to Laser marking in the near future due to cost. But the Power Key will remain 3-layer painting.

For customers who experiences above problem we must ensure that parts used for repair / replacement are of the new version.

Assemblies Affected

All RH-4 phones with A-covers below version P (e.g…M, N and O)
No version marking exists on the Power Key.

Parts Required

Only A-Covers with version P or above (e.g. P, Q, R, S…) should be use as spare parts.
A-Cover and Power Key NMP codes remain unchanged.

The A-Cover Version is printed on the back of the A-Cover assembly in the following format:

FLS YWWD VSS
F = Factory
L = Line
YWWD = date
V = Version => should be P or higher
SS = supplier combination
