Voicestream t28w unlock

Hi All,
I'm a newbie here, but I've read all the threads/messages on how to unlock T28's and T28w's. I have a data cable and have downloaded every T28 unlocking program on the planet and at http://mobile.box.sk/manufacturer.php3?newsprj=ericsson and any other one I could find. I've tried them all on two different computers, with WinXP and Win98. No joy. All the programs time out and it seems they can't even "see" or "talk to" my phone. Voicesteam has "personalized" their T28w's with a utility or software called MNC3. My question is this: Has ANYONE ever successfully unlocked a USA Voicestream/T-Mobile T28w? If so, what software did you use and where can I get it? I have a feeling that these Voicestream T28w's are locked straight from hell, and the regular, European T28's are far, far easier to unlock. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Problem is that you can't use data cable. You should have service cable (this one uses pins 6,7 for communication) and 9 is asserted high (shorted to battery voltage). This is the way to put phone in service mode. Data cables use pins 4,5 and don't put phone in service mode.
Most of unlocking/repair sw doesn't work on WinXP (due to kernel mode protection for direct acces to serial port). Use Win98 or ME.
