Getting started

Hi!

Just got a nok flash cable and I tried to test it, but I keep getting messages like "Cannot prepare phone", "Preloader boot error." and "self test failed!". The phone I've been trying with is a 3310 that got mixed with water. You can't turn the phone on unless you hold the power putton down while inserting battery. I've also tried with a working 3310, but still not working. The cable is connected to lpt port. Any ideas causing this?

With what program are you trying to flashg your phone with?
And do you get this error when starting the program or when executing a "Write to phone"-like command?

You could try two other great programs:

and

Nokia DCT3 Flasher & M2Bus Tools by Rolis v5.14 - which you can download here http://www.xpfreaks.com/Nokia/Flashers/nokia dct3 flasher&m2bus tools by rolis v5_14.zip

The first one is only for flashing phones and the otherone is for both flashing and unlocking (you will need a datacable too).

Try them out and let me know :cool:

Hi again,

I tried those to programs, here's the results:

Nokia DCT3 Flasher by Rolis v4.77:

1. Read default flash size
2. Power the phone
3. Wait
4. Nothing happens
5. Press a button and nothing happens
6. Reboot

Nokia DCT3 Flasher & M2Bus Tools by Rolis v5.14

1. The program just says that the phone isn't connected to a M2Bus cable.

The programs I tried before were xmobilepro, rolis4.78 and nokDL. I didn't find any information that should these programs run on a windows XP? or do they need a win98?

Ok, I'm trying this with my server running w98&litestep... hope I't won't nuke it totally :D

Not working, getting just a error message: Preloader initialisation error
Error code:00 00
Reason:
-Cable problems
-Delay index too small
-mobile HW malfunction

dont use Rolis 5.14

it killed my phone every time i tried 2 use it.

keep 2 rolis 4.77 or 4.78 ;)

well, at the moment it doesn't matter what version I'm using, every time it ends in a hangup or an error...

What mode is your parallel port on your BIOS?
It should be ECP/EPP or ECP.

Or else there are two problems:

1) Your cable is not functioning

2) Your cellphone is dead :rolleyes:

I hope this parallel port mode thing will fix your problems.
Else try your cable on another PC, and on another cellphone.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check my port setting as soon as I finish writing this. The cable is a brand new, so I'm not sure if it even works. I've tried with a working phone too, with same results.
Hope this worksout soon, I just can't wait to get my hands on those phones :)

The parallel was at SPP setting, I tried it with EPP and EPP+ECP... Still wasn't able to succeed. Tried also with a workin 3310 at both settings. Is there something I have missed or is it just a bad day? Is there a way to check the cable before I throw it out of the window?

hmm...

Dude I think you should try your cable on another computer and if it still doesn't work ask the one who sold it to you to replace it with a working one.

Dear icebox don't panic,Rolis is no good for flash all phone problem is MAYBE flash loader,try u flash ur phone with another flash soft hmm try u with XpMobile and i think that wiil SUCCES!

Hi again, I was away for a while. Had to do a power mod for my little brothers nikko RC car :)

I tried the cable with my 7110 and still no success. This time it loaded for a longer time (I did it with XpMobile like pedjulino told me to do), but ended up in a error saying that something was already running (I think it meaned that the phone was already doing something, I tried to read phoneinfo). After that the program just kept saying "Cannot Initialize Device" and after that "Priviledged instruction". I think that It's time for a reboot. I think I'll contact the guy who sold me this cable, the cable is a factory job and I think it has some kind of quarantee. Just can't wait to get inside these little thingies :D
