what is the difference between the two and how will i know if my what rom my phone has?

For the time being, I will assume your refering to the 82xx! Rom versions are the version of CPU. Nokia changed from Rom 5 to Rom 6 in the middle of production of the 8210. The 8250 and 2100 are both Rom 6's, so... if you have a Rom 6 version 8210, you can upgrade to the 8250 or 2100! You can check your Rom version by connecting your phone via Mbus cable to Noktools by Rolis and clicking read!

yes i am refering to both 8210 and 8250 nokia phones. is there any you can know about the rom version w/o connecting it to a computer? (i.e. serial number, made by china,nokia,finland sticker)... i dont know if its true but someone told me that when 82xx is made by finland its rom5
if its made by china/nokia its rom6...can anyone please verify this im refering to the sticker at the back of the phone where u can read

You can find this typing *#0000# -> the vertion of the phone is coming
and if I remember correctly if its under 5.27 its rom 5 ...above is rom 6

It's version 5.28, and thats assuming that the phone has never been flashed or serviced! But... you still have to check the phone with cables prior to flashing anyway, so it's kinda pointless!

Chunkhead thanks for corecting me....I personaly use cable and rolis 1.9 for this things..

I didn't correct you, we were both right! v5.27 is Rom 5 and v5.28 is Rom 6! Like I said though... it's just a guide, you still have to check with Noktools etc.
