8310 powers off after sending text?

after my daughter sends a text message, her 8310 usually powers down. Just power up again and everything works normally until she sends a text. She is on o2 talkalot, the phone software is ver 6.20, the handset was locked to orange, but was unlocked using a dct4 calc code. Date of manufacture shown on the phone is November 2002.

I put her sim card in my 8310, which was supplied as a sim free handset so no locks (I think), and it texts without the problem. My pnone software is 6.04 althought the manufacture date on the phone is June 2003.

Anyone heard of similar problems and soloutions? And should I take my phone to the nokia centre to get the software upgraded to 6.20 - are there any advantages?

i have the 8390 (i believe it's the same fone right?) anyways, i've been having the same problem that you are. It turns itself off every now and then, and then turns itself back on.. almost seems like it's restarting itself... it happens randomly for me, but it ALWAYS happens when i try to copy my fone book (ie. ALL the entries from sim card to fone).
Mine started happening about a couple of months after buying it (brand new), but first it was just once every couple of weeks or something, but it got worst, so i took it to Cingular, and they said they "repaired" it, and it seemed like it did get better (for about a week, that is)... anyhow, i also have a friend that has the same fone, and she also has the same problem.. so i'm thinkin it might be a flaw in the whole series or something... so i think i'm gonna have to get a new fone soon... but if you find a solution, please do let me know... thanks! =)
