What do you guys think of the N-Gage?

I just got a N-Gage. It's my first "smart phone" (I must confess to having totally disliked cell phones in the past but the N-Gage caught my eye) and I'm very happy with it. Being someone that enjoys playing games, but appreciates more advanced things than Gameboy's notoriously outdated devices I found that I enjoyed the N-Gage quite a bit.

As I looked into it, I realized the N-Gage was really just a 3650-camery+Enhanced gaming features (MMC card and setup)... I know that might be too basic, there are more differences but they are quite simular in terms of what's "under the hood". I've been trying to dig up Series 60 applications and java games and the like and I must say I am impressed with what's out there.

I've noticed that a lot of GBA users have quite strongly condemend the N-Gage. It's over priced they say (yet to my understand it's priced along the lines of the other Series 60 phones), they say it looks weird (I like how it looks and the Series 60 isn't exactly ordinarly looking phones) and they say it's oversized. I however am quite happy with it, and I would have to think their judgements are out of jealousy and lack of knowledge.

But, you guys are the long time Series 60 users. You guys know more about Nokia and it's products and how the N-Gage compares. So... I just wanted to get peoples opinion on this.

a week ago i bought the N-Gage...and i sold my dear 7650.

i'm veeeeery happy..n-gage rox..
I was used to have only 4MB..so can u imagin how i feel with 32+4MB ?? ^_^

well i have to say that i was waiting 4 6600...but i think it's to early 4 that fone. too expensive, first...
i'll wait when new bugfixed firmware will be available...when apps will be developed for Symbian7..and when it 'll cost less!!

And..what has 6600 of innovative?? zoom? themes? :rolleyes:

I don't know about 6600, but N-Gage compares to all the existing Series 60 phones and what are they?

well, i liked ngage for the stereo speakers, radio, mp3 and mmc. but it lacks a cam, i tink it can attach a camera.

I heard a attachment might come out, but to my knowledge there is no camera attachment as of yet.

And, ours came free with a contract (through a third party, it was a Eplus contract in Germany...but Eplus themselves don't offer contracts for the N-Gage yet).

The list price is 300$ in America, I think a little less in Europe.

With my N-Gage i use all the games and apps (and more) i collected 4 my old 7650... + mp3 + games + RadioFM....yeah well..i've to stay without camera....but nevermind

The NGAGE is a great phone.. Truly worth every bit of cash you spend on it.. Seriously..

There is a poll going on.. I think ppl dont understand how good this phone is.. Simply because the camera is missing.. Its like Nokia took in the feedback of most N60 Users, added gaming to justify building a new phone and removed the camera so that it wouldn't be the perfect phone..

I don't think a camera attachment would ever be forthcoming.. because nobody would buy any other phone..

I used it for three blissful days.. And had to give it back.. Its sold out in my phone store here.. I awaiting the next shipment..

N-Gage is an awesome fone costs round 270$ down here ...in middle east ..its awesome but ill stick with my GBA SP ...nothin can replace da game boy ...theres not dat many awesome games out for N gage Yet .....just 5-6 ....Im waitin for da 6600 2 come out ....ill probably buy that

2 phones that have the same marketing purpose at the same time ?
i believe most of us will anwser "no" coz by doing that ... people will compare these 2 phones and of coz buy the better 1... u may get profits for selling 1 of ur phones well .... but what about ur the other phone that dont sell well n coz u a loss .... isnt it everything will be back to square 1?

u can compare these phone coz these 2 phones are targeting different market ... for ex: if a businessman who got no time for gaming n needs a
cam function in his work bought a n-gage .. of coz he will feel n-gage is useless .... for a guy who likes gaming bought a 6600 .. of coz he will feels n-gage is better ...

if u compare the 6600 with the 3650 then is much more reasonable coz there phone shares the same market .... as u can see .... 3650 is introduced after the 1+ or 2 years that 7650 was introduced ... n 6600 will be introduced after 1+ or 2 year after 3650 ... as for n-gage ... they are targeting young ppl who likes gaming .....

we will nv see situation like 3650 n 6600 coming at to the market at the same time in nokia business ...

therefore i dont think there is a need to compare 6600 with n-gage........

I'm a 22 year old who loves gaming. I won't buy a N-Gage because I bought a N3650 2 months ago.

In my opinion there is no comparison possible with the GBA. The price tag is not excessive. I actualy thing it is cheap (my 3650 cost 400 euros). Remember people it is also a series 60 phone!! A top of the line phone!! You CAN't use your GBA to make phone calls, you CAN't use it to listen to MP3, that's why the GBA is so much cheaper.
The GBA has many games, while the N-Gage.... time will tell.

I think it's an alright cell, but really it cnt be compared with the 6600, the 6600 is jst too good, i cnt wait till it comes out, i wanna get it ASAP.. Anyonce got a release date for the 6600...?

Comparison between those 2 phones are impossible to be made, because there are totally different characteristics and also - different platforms. Would some of you be so kind / after 2-3 months / to quate or to give an example of a source that makes charts of the most successful phones on the market, and to see - are those 2 phones the same in their genders - game platform vs. business/smart/ phone ? How can people say 6600 is just so good? Have you got the damn phone on your hands. Do you know what are the advantages of symbian 7? Digital zoom sucks so I don't care about that. It is stylish OK but also very expensive. Maybe you would buy the 8930i just because of the looks (crappy phone but it's cool).

I don't have a N-Gage but at least I can compare it to the N3650 which I do have.

I don't see what is so great about a camera. It has about 0.8 megapixels its hardly worth it. I personally never used the camera on my 3650.

i agree with nix, the fone camera sux, and the video recorder is even worse.

i wont be missing anything if i got rid of my 3650, i'd rather an ngage. just cant afford it at the moment, thats all, :-x

Man, if you's want a camera then get a SLR or a point and shoot, the 7650/3650 etc. is for "kodak Moments" for that special occasion and that's it. N-Gage is a kids toy and 6600 is to replace mainly the 7650, and the only reason why i would want a 6600 is because it's smaller and it has mmc/sd expansion. Screw the price, if you have the money then buy it otherwise wait and and get it on contract or till the price drops.

Why should I change my 3650 for the 6600? And don't say style because I'm not the kind of people who pays 300 bucks extra just for looks.

PS: Phone cameras are just for kodak moments like someone said. It serves its purpose as I usually don't go around carrying a digital camera.

Very true, if your really into photos, id rather buy a 2megapixel digicam and an N-gage than to buy a 6600. That way, you got way better pix and a handheld as good as any symbian phone at almost the same price as buying a 6600. :-P
