I have just recently bought a 7650 and a serial data cable, my problem now is that when I connect the data cable the phone displays "accessory not supported".

Does anyone know the solution for me to fix this problem?

You cant use a cable for data just for servicing ie ulocking/flashing etc invest in a infrered adaper just like the one on the add on top of forum

OK,

say I want to upgrade my firmware or even transfer my phonebook ,on the 7650, this is what i try to do,

1. connect serial cable to pc and phone.
2. turn pc on, turn phone on.
3. start the software (whatever one I use, it makes no difference).
4. select the correct com port and settings.
5. software try to detect phone and then beeps with 'accessory not supported' message.

What am I doing wrong?

is it possible to update firmware with only data cable?

Try diffrent cable. Infrared/bluetooth is best for file transfer with 7650

No you cannot upgrade you phone with a simple datacable you will need a DCT-4 flashing box like a Griffin, Neelix, AFD etc
